Hey just wondering if anyone is applying to UAB's MSN program. I'm applying to their FNP program, but still unsure as to whether or not i'm making the right decision about school choice. I'm specifically wondering about the time commitment. I work full-time and am wondering if I would still be able to keep my full-time job and do the distance learning format full-time as well. Also, cost is a major issue to me as my husband is racking up a gizzion dollars in dental school loans. Any info would be awesome.
JKRN, I'm a GA nurse. GPA 3.4. Recommendations from my unit preceptor, unit charge RN, and two RNs who practice in the specialty that I am interested in. Turned in my application early. Pretty strong essays. Goodluck!
Jsoupy, ill be going for MSN, Adult Clinical Nurse Specialist.
Anyone else for Adult CNS?
I do not live in AL, rather in MS. I haven't received any mail yet either. I am applying for FNP post-master's certificate however. I tried calling by all they tell you is the info is in the mail and it was mailed Friday. I have a 3.92 MSN gpa. I have been in nursing for 5 years and I have two letters of rec. from teachers/collegues at the college that I work for and one other one from the Dean of the entire nursing school. I am still worried about not getting accepted... IS everyone accepted as part-time? I certainly hope that isn't the case as I want to be finished with this asap! But, like I said.... I am worried sick!
Here's my stats:
I am an Alabama nurse. I have a 3.7 GPA overall, with only about a 3.0 on my last 60 hours. Where I went to nursing school you had to have a 4.0 to get in pretty much and pretty much no one got A's once they were in the Bachelors program. I graduated with honors in May 2010 and have been working as an RN since then. I had 4 recs: an old preceptor from an internship, two instructors from my Bachelor's program and my unit manager from my current job. I also volunteer at a local free clinic. I got into the FNP part time for Fall 2011, to graduate Spring 2013.
Today I knocked out most of that admission to do list. I've been gone since 830 this am and just got home. Whew.
I've been working on my paperwork too. I'm pretty much down to my physical and my UDS. There isn't a labcorp test site near where I live, but they are sending me paperwork so that I can do my UDS through my hospital's lab since my hospital contracts with labcorp.
Has anyone been able to set up their Blazer account or does anyone know when we will be able to do it?
Calijaz--Congratulations. I am working on completing my packet also.Did you submit the copy of RN license and CPR to the person and number on the checklist?
Congrats to you as well!
I tried to fax it and it wouldn't go through. I thought maybe it was a phone number... but that didn't work either. I guess I'll just put it in the mail in the AM? What about you?
