Anyone Applying to Spring 2014 Texas Tech 2nd Degree BSN

Published

Anyone applying to Texas Tech's program, specifically the 2nd degree Austin program? What is your work experience? What prereqs have you taken/still need? Volunteering? GPA? Heard anything interesting lately about the program? Let's get to chatting!

@kkcriner- In the past, I think anywhere from 110-150 people have applied. I'm not sure about this year, but I'm assuming it's in that area.

Ladies, I'd love to hear about what you're planning on wearing to the interview. I decided that it's best to be over-dressed, so I picked out a black skirt suit. I also printed two head shots to bring, as they mentioned that in the e-mail. Let me know what you guys are wearing/bringing!

I want to go shopping! But I don't feel like buying an interview outfit hehe...I'd rather go shopping for cute winter clothing :woot: I used to work at a bank so I'll just wear something that I used to wear then. I'll glam up with cute jewelry :artist:

Did anyone receive an e-mail reply from the admission question submission? I didn't

Yes, I received an email confirming they had received it.

Did anyone get the followup email from Marylin that she mentioned in the original email?

About the background check and fingerprinting? No, I haven't gotten any follow up email there either (although last year there was no mention of the background check at all... at least not in the interview offer email). That said, I think the delay is good cause last time I set up a CBC w/ fingerprinting it was not free and I'd be way more apt to spend $$ knowing I made it into the program.

@jennytmuw- I'm with you on the winter clothing. I didn't have anything interview-esque, so I really had no choice. Oh well! I received a confirmation e-mail about the admission question a day or two after I submitted. I mentioned I already did the CBC/fingerprinting for another application, so they didn't really give me any follow-up on that..

Ok so now i HAVE received a follow up on the fingerprinting/background check - basically the same as kaseyroo - that I've already done it so i just need to email proof. ... and I have nooo idea where I put said proof a year ago

Yes, I have to find my proof too and email it. I'm glad I have already completed the fingerprinting though-one less thing to worry about!

My interview is tomorrow- I'm nervous! Somebody tell me a joke. ;)

Eeeeeeeek mine is Tuesday and I'm getting super nervous! You'll do great! Make sure to let us know how it was ASAP :-) GOOD LUCK AND RELAX!!!!

Goodluck kaseyroo and all the Monday interview peeps! I'm with you on Tues., April (late afternoon). If anyone needs distraction I recommend the humor section of pinterest...

Hi ladies and gents! I just had my interview and I thought it went really well. It was FAR less scary than I imagined! All of my interviewers were incredibly nice and the atmosphere was fairly relaxed. You can expect questions like: Why nursing? Why now? What's your support system like? How do you deal with stress? How do you feel about commuting? I felt like they tailored my questions based off of my application, so the questions probably vary. The biggest thing that stood out to me was that they were trying to gauge my commitment. I'm happy it's over! Good luck to everyone! :)

I haven't been waiting for long but I want to know already!! lol :zombie: :cyclops:

I keep overthinking things from my interview. Was I supposed to address each person or both people that were interviewing me at the same time? I was trying to address both, trying meaning there was one interviewer from Lubbock that obviously wanted to go already (I was the very last interviewee and they were running behind) and she wasn't even looking at me, she was looking out across the sliding doors. I thought that was very rude or maybe I did not seem interesting at all as soon as she saw me? Okay, see??? I'm overthinking things gggrrr

Oh wells, this little rant helps :saint:

Any interesting people you met when you went over for the interview? There was one who said it was her second time applying for the program since she didn't get in last year but she did for El Paso. The students were super nice in answering any questions I had :cat:
