Anyone applying for El Centro in 2005

Published

I'm just finishing up my last pre-req for the ADN program and I was wondering if anyone else is applying for next year.

I'm also considering the LVN program (just as a backup)- and then transitioning over to the Bridge program.

hi fun2care,

if i'm remembering right, the "co-requisite" gpa was lower for the northlake campus than the el centro campus. it think it was 3.54. this was for the class to start august 2004.

also, there are several (about 5) of my classmates who initially got a rejection letter from the program, and made plans to take co-reqs (like micro or speech, etc.) then were called less than 3 days before the start of classes, told that there were now seats available. these students really had to scramble to adjust work hours, money to pay for books, child care, etc. but they are still there and seem very happy they got in. the thing these last-minute-acceptance students had in common was a low number of co-req hours completed (10 or fewer), and that they had a 3.77 gpa for the pre-reqs.

hope this helps somewhat. take care!

Hey guys! I will be applying for the nursing program at El Centro this coming May for Spring 2006. My Pre-req's are about done. I retook A&P I and got an A, and this semester,I'm taking A&P II and English 1301 again.

I was looking at El Centro's website, and I noticed that it says ALL science courses have to be less than 5 yrs? I guess it looks like I will have to take Micro again! I took Micro in Fall 2000.

Yes, all science courses have to be w/i 5 years, unless you utilize that information all the time. (With your job, etc.)

Congrats on your A, I'm retaking A&P 1 now. I made a 100 on the first lecture test (with my 5 point curve). Hopefully, I can keep it up! :)

Are you planning on going to El Centro or Northlake if you get accepted for Spring '06? I'm planning for NLC, but I'll take ECC if I have to!!!

Good luck to you!!

Congrats to all you guys. You are all attending a really good program. It is well respected in the community. All of the healthcare programs are. I went to both Northlake and El Centro college (though not for nursing).

I did surg tech at El Centro. The parking at Northlake can be tight, but the Nursing students are lucky because there building is next to the parking lot that is empty the most. You don't have to pay to park at Northlake, but you will have to pay if you decide to drive downtown to El Centro. They do give all students a free bus/train pass you can use anytime.

If I ever come back to Dallas, I would try for Northlake. I lived in the apartments right across the way from Northlake so getting to class took 3 min! I found the ancillary staff at Northlake a bit friendlier than than the staff at El Centro, but with the nursing program being so competitive, I would take what I could get!
