I submitted my completed application on November 23rd and I'm anxiously waiting. I attended the open house in September and fell in love with the program. I just thought I would check in here and see if anyone else is in the same boat. It would be interesting to have someone to commiserate with during this awful waiting game :) :typing
a second congrats SFChef!
E - I am local to NC but I'm not sure what I will do if I don't get accepted. I have applied to a grad school in AZ that I am also waiting to hear back from, so I've got one other possibility. I might apply to UNC, that was my original plan, actually. I just wish I could hear something so I could make other plans if I need to or stop wasting time considering other options... I'm sure you feel the same way. Are you local as well?
Earthylgirl and gtscryss, have you all talked to anyone at the school since your interviews? Maybe you all will at least make the waiting list and thats why you havent heard anything yet. I am surprised that it is taking this long esp. since gtscryss had the interveiw back on the 16th of Jan. Hopefully you all hear some good news soon....Good luck!
SFChef, congrats.......
G - I am not local, but will be as of July (moving to Durham regardless of Duke's decision - my bf is doing his fellowship at Duke). And I totally agree with you, I'm basically waiting on hearing back from Duke before making other plans, which will be to find a job for when we move and then apply to UNC for the Jan. 2010 start and also NCCU for what I believe is a Jan. 2010 start also, with the exception of a few pre-nursing classes that you take in the fall (it's their first year doing ABSN, so all of the dates/deadlines are completely unclear, which is a little worrysome).
Dakota - I have not talked to anyone since my interview on the 30th. My feeling is that they're accepting people who are a definite yes right away and then maybe picking from the pool of people that were "possibilities"? Anyone else know differently?
Don't get discouraged! I checked the Yahoo board and there are only 55 members. I know that Melissa is one member and she said that there were a few current students on the board to answer questions. I had heard that the class size is typically 72 and even heard a rumor that they may increase the class size this upcoming year.
thanks karen, that was really nice of you to do for us! That is very encouraging!
E - you know Duke is doing a program in january too? The girl who gave us our tours said that she didn't get in the first time, re-applied not changing her app at all, and got in the second. If things don't work out for us this time, we could always try it again...
but for now we can still be hopeful :)
OMG - I got my admission decision this morning and I got in!!! I am SO excited!! I'm sending in my deposit this afternoon, and am getting ready to join the Yahoo users group (how cool is it that they set that up for us?!).To everyone else who has been accepted, congratulations! I really look forward to meeting you in August. To all those who didn't get in, I am truly sorry. I was denied admission to Hopkins and I know how much the decision hurts. To those still waiting, yuck. I hope you hear something soon.
Yay! I will be smiling all day today.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!! Congrats! I'm so happy to hear the good news. I'll have to get my recipes together soon, its time to celebrate girl :) God is so wonderful!
Thanks everyone for the encouragement...I remember from my interview day that the class size is 77. The people who are in the yahoo group, are they people who are a) accepted or b) accepted and sent in a deposit? Does it sound like everyone is definitely planning on attending Duke? G - I actually forgot that Duke was starting with a Spring start for next year, thanks for the reminder!
