I will be applying to the school of Nursing at University of Miami for Fall 2009. I need to complete my current courses at FIU and about 3 courses in the summer to finish up the pre-reqs for UM. Just wondering if anyone else is applying/considering the Basic BSN program at UM? Did any of you attend the information session that was on Jan. 13th? Anyone spoken to Yenisey Cabrera (the nursing advisor)? Are there any current students from the Basic program? How is it?
I applied to the Accelerated BSN Program for Fall 2009 at UM. I have my undergraduate from Barry University in Biology. I hope I have a good shot at getting in.

i am still waiting too! i want to call but i was told by admissions not to bother till second week of april!! i am extremely impatient at this point:banghead:! let me know when you find out!!
I got into Barry a couple weeks ago, so I paid my deposit there already so that way i would not lose it. But its refundable, I really wanna go to UM. :)
I am confused, I applied to the University of Miami Accelerated Nursing Program that starts in the Fall 2009. So they offer two different programs in the fall basic and accelerated???? Has anybody heard any news if they have been accepted to the accelerated program for fall?
I applied in December 2008...after much harrassment from my part I finally heard back in March...I got into the ABSN Fall 2009. Goodluck & keep us posted.
I applied for the Fall 2009 Regular BSN. I have the two math courses MGF1106 AND 1107 for the AA, but not MAC1105 (College Algebra) which is a pre-req, I called the school but they told me they had to first evaluate my transcripts and get back to me if anything. Do you think they will take these classes instead of MAC1105? or should I take MAC1105 over the summer. Does anyone know?
Wow you waited along time to hear if you got accepted! I applied after the March 1st deadline;however, they told me that it was not an issue and they already have all of my info, transcripts, letter of recommendation etc. When do you think I will hear something back??? Do you also know people that are still waiting for an acceptance for the accelerated program in Fall 2009???
So I too am waiting to hear back from UM for Fall 2009, I emailed Yolanda Quiles in the Admissions department (I have not been getting a response from the School of Nursing) she told me that the Nursing School has told her that they will start making admissions decisions at the beginning of May. Ugh, its been a long wait!
Hey CHICHI, Thanks for responding Im glad Im not the only one waiting for an acceptance letter. I also called University of Miami and they notified me that they will be sending out acceptance letters the second week of May. CHICHI When did you send out your application?? Do you already have an undergraduate degree?
Hi cmb- Yes I have an undergrad degree from UM, my GPA was not that great though. I actually went to visit the school last week (I was in town for a Nova interview) and actually had someone look in my file and tell me again it was undecided. I do have to say though from what I saw of both schools I was more impressed with the Nova facilities and the way I was treated there...
