Just wondering if anyone has applied to Umass Boston and Umass Medical (in Worcester), Simmons and MGH for 2009 direct entry and BSN @ UMB? I am a little confused on what is taking them so so long to get back to me. My undergrad GPA is 3.2, got a 3.85 in all the prerequisites, decent GRE scores...I got in last year at UMass Medical, they called me a week before the program started (I guess I was wait listed), but I couldn't attend since not all my prerequisites were completed. I just called Umass Med. and they told me they already picked the 25 students and I wasn't one of them. It would be nice if they send a notice once in a while, but nothing. Anyone please heard anything, I'm desperate, I hope I got in at least one school, not picky at this point, just desperate
The email I received notifying me that my application was complete said that all applications would not be reviewed until after the posted deadline. I'm hoping the same is true for Simmons, but when I called several weeks ago the answering machine said they had received a large amount of applications, more than usual... and that was before the deadline.
Does anyone know when Northeastern is supposed to send out letters?
I know some people who have been accepted to NEU, some who haven't heard anything yet. There is a rumor on this forum that they have finished their interviews. However, goBErun83 stay positive and remember ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!
Determination and perseverance are 2 qualities NPs certainly need to reinforce in others-so let's all be patient and keep trying! If all of us have applied to multiple schools, we aren't all going to all of them. Once people make their decisions this month, hopefully they will call some of us on these wait lists! Good luck :-)
I also got accepted to MGHIHP. Very excited. I'm from California and don't know too much about Boston. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Have you visited the MGH campus at all? The "campus" itself is rather small - I think at this point it only consists of two buildings, but the main building is newly renovated and right on the water in the Charlestown Navy Yard which is self-enclosed. The school is a short ride away from North Station which gives you access to the MBTA (Boston's public transit system) which can take you pretty much anywhere in the city.
Hmm...it's hard to try and sum up what Boston itself is like. Well, I can tell you one thing - it's very expensive to live in the city itself. I would suggest trying to find a place in one of the Boston suburbs like Somerville or Brighton. The MBTA system is pretty efficient for the most part, so commuting from one of the neighboring cities wouldn't be much of an issue.
There's lots of stuff to do in terms of entertainment, sporting events (Bostonians LOVE sports - I suggest you become a Red Sox fan :chuckle), dining, etc.
It is also much colder in Boston than in California! Not to scare you but I grew up here and my boyfriend is from Santa Monica. I have also visited many other cities such as San Fran, San Diego, and Santa Barbara. It was 14 degrees this morning so I hope you are prepared for snow and cold weather!! :-) Also, people are much more laid back in California so be prepared to meet lots of aggressive people here in Boston!
What part of Cali are you from?
