Anyone applied to UMB, MGH,Simmons and Umass Med for 2009?Any news PLEASE?

Just wondering if anyone has applied to Umass Boston and Umass Medical (in Worcester), Simmons and MGH for 2009 direct entry and BSN @ UMB? I am a little confused on what is taking them so so long to get back to me. My undergrad GPA is 3.2, got a 3.85 in all the prerequisites, decent GRE scores...I got in last year at UMass Medical, they called me a week before the program started (I guess I was wait listed), but I couldn't attend since not all my prerequisites were completed. I just called Umass Med. and they told me they already picked the 25 students and I wasn't one of them. It would be nice if they send a notice once in a while, but nothing. Anyone please heard anything, I'm desperate, I hope I got in at least one school, not picky at this point, just desperate :o

Hey! I'm in Cali now too, LA area and will be going to MGH if I get my chem course done that is. :) I lived in Boston for a couple of years prior to moving to LA in 2006. They are really, really different cultures. There is a bit of an edge to people on the East Coast in general. I had lived in the Midwest my entire life prior to moving East and I was kind of put off at first. You're walking down the side walk and get the feeling people would rather force you into the street than move over a few inches. There isn't the same open, laid back, anything goes feeling there is here. But, I came to really like Boston after I got used to it which is a lot of the reason I applied out there. It's a diverse city, people seem more real then they do here, there's lots to do. The T (subway) is the best. Not like LA where it doesn't go anywhere and no one rides it. Cost of living wise I'd say Boston and LA are pretty comparable. I actually pay more in rent here then I did there.

It is cold there but you get used to it.

Just in regards to the post about people in Boston doing whatever they can to get ahead. Honestly and this is just my experience I'd say it's not any different in Cali. Nothing against Cali or the people, no offense intended because no place is perfect (and I've only lived in LA) but here people just try to get ahead through different means, there's an all about me culture out here and an insincerity in terms of how people interact with one another. In some people. I've met some really great people here, really kind people.

I'm just comparing these places to my experience of growing up in MN. Where you come from probably makes a big difference in how you perceive things. What's normal, how people should treat others, what's important etc.

I'm flashing back to that sideways, bitter wind. I hated when it was raining really hard and windy and your umbrella becomes totally useless. Ugh! :)

Anyone worried about the RN hiring freezes going on out there? I had the same thought of being able to work as an RN the second summer...hopefully things will turn around by then!

I'm not sure yet, Simmons has been my #1 since 2007 when I thought about applying, but I really liked the MGH open house.

Does anyone know the time line for Simmon's decisions? I know that some people have received decision letters already while others haven't even received anything acknowledging our application.

Those of you who were accepted to Simmons, did you get any correspondences from the school before the decision letter? I wonder if they are reviewing application by the order received.

Jalin, still reviewing, I called and asked this morning, my file is with the committee still I was told. I did submit it right on the deadline too, not if that is relevant at this point. They said I won't be hearing till the end of the week, in the meantime I have a deposit due by tomorrow ughhh.

Does anyone know the class size for Simmons? I can't remember, its been a while since the info session.

I think the class size at Simmons is similar to MGH (around 80?). I got into both programs and am trying to decide! I'm leaning toward MGH though and will probably send them my deposit tomorrow... Anyone else deciding between MGH and Simmons? Or already chose MGH?

Still deciding, but I already sent in my deposit to MGH because I wasn't sure when I would hear from Simmons or if I would even get in there. I don't think MGH cashed my check yet, but since I haven't made up my mind I think I just have to let them cash it. MGH already sent me a welcome email acknowledging that they received my payment.... so looks like I just have to make up my mind before the Simmons deadline.

This is too complicated.
