Anyone in Americare Institute LPN program in Schaumburg???? =)

If you are currently a student, have graduated or going into this program, how do you like it? Do you feel prepared for nclex? How are the teachers, clinical sites? Anything and everything will be so greatly appreciated! I would love to hear any input that you can provide for me. Thank you. =)

No, I do not have my LPN. I am a fulltime firefighter/paramedic and with my schedule of 24hours on 48hours off I am looking for a part time program, so far I'm not having any luck. Taking prereqs at Wright.

Actually I believe the part-time and the full-time are the same around the same amount of days...I think maybe part-time might be a day less.. because the difference between the part-time and the full-time is all about the amount of time that it takes to finish the program. If you start the program already being done with API and APII and you go full-time which is 2 days a week at campus and 1 day of clinicals.. you will finish in 10 months with your LPN. But they did say if you go part-time, you can finish in either 14 months or 18 months. They don't have a full-time LPN program that is Monday-Friday.. it's just your classes could be 2 days during the week of Monday-Friday... you have the option of having the clinicals on the weekend.

What are you taking at Wright? I went there. Where do you live hon? I live in Wicker Park near North and Ashland Ave

I attended an info session at Ambria recently. The cost for the program if you need to complete a&p classes is somewhere in the neighborhood of $28000 for the LPN program, not sure on the rn bridge. This went up from around $23,000 in March.

I'm sure for those who are able to qualify for Pell grant, Fafsa, & maybe WIA it's an option but I don't so for myself it's just too much! On the plus side, the building in Hoffmann Estates where classes are held is new & VERY nice & it seems like a good program, at least the NCLEX pn pass rates are great. I talked to a couple girls while there who are in the program. They like it and are about to graduate. Wish it didn't cost so much or I would definitely be attending!

i recently finished there this past month. after completion i must say ambria is great for those who have the money and lack the time to wait for admission to a community college. however just because you got in to this school dont take it lightly the program is very serious. by that i mean in order to pass the class which is atleast a C obviously, the percentage is 80% not the standard 74% in most nursing schools. plus the additional exit exam for each class must be passed as well. the downside to this school however is the organization. its lacking! so unless you're serious about becoming a nurse and can handle self-teaching/stuying dont go here. as for your question above there is no fee for transcript review but if the credits dont match up you may need to take a proficiency test which is free. the proficency test are only fee based if you want to opt out of a class you never took, if it is a credit issue then the test is free. pharm is not a pre-req its part of the actual lpn program. i live 30 miles from the new campus its a 45-60 min drive but i suggest you stay in the city because clins are in the city and most clins start at 0600 am otherwise find a place in the middle. btw to those entering or already there beware of minda in accounting always keep record of payments because she wont and you might end up paying more than you should. good luck to you all!

Has anyone taken the math compass placement test at Ambria College? If so is it hard? I have taken math classes many years ago and well kinda bummed that I have to take this darn placement and possible the course this summer in order to get into the lpn program! ugh PLEASE Help!!!!!!

I took the COMPASS years ago at Wright..in 2006.. after not being in school since like 1992 and got like 90-something percent on it so I wouldn't worry about it. I would just google.. practice exams for compass or something like that... and just look over what could be on it...

When are you taking it? I'm taking it next week sometime. Have you taken the TEAS yet? That will be WAY harder than the COMPASS exam!

Did you get your CNA yet? Are you starting in the Fall? Sorry for so many questions..lol

i took all the pre reqs at ambria and just started the lpn full time program, got to say it is a beautiful school with some bad ass teachers and they accept fafsa, my big reason for coming here. Go for a free info session and tour the school, once you see their facility and visit others you will laugh at other schools. Ambria is taking over the private area nursing schools quick. The classes are tough and they do expect you to be ready for studying but you cant beat this school. If you have the money and can get to the school id do it, i was tired of waiting for wright college to accept me after 2 years. I live in chicago on the north side and am about 20 mins away from clinicals and about 30-40 mins away from the school. I also have pre req books for sale if anyone is interested i just finished math english and psych, the only other pre reqs are computer(which i tested out of) and cna liscense in good standing. I got max financial aid from the fafsa and will only be paying about $4000 out of pocket.

Wish me luck, and dont believe the bullsh*t you read online, this school is as legit as it gets.

prereqs have to be taken anyway, the compass just sees if you are smart enough to start english 101, math 100, and psych 200

part time will take you about 16-18 months just for lpn, rn will be another 16-18

How did your meeting go? I still have not set the day for my meeting and dropping my $1,000. I just feel so overwhelmed with trying to figure out how I will pay for the program. I called them the other day and they said that they were accepted for fasfa but have yet to set it up. I hope that I get the full WIA amount of $8,000. But, there is still $10,000 that I need to pay. And money is the only reason why I have yet to go ahead and turn in my application. The deadline is approaching and I have such a headache thinking about it. Plus, I'm moving to the area this wednesday, and have yet to obtain a job as well. Did you learn anything new from your meeting then what you have previously said?

hi tenchi..just want to ask..so have you moved near Ambria? if so, how close do you live by the school..I'm having problems looking for a place to stay..did you rent an apartment? let me know how did it go..I'm really desperate to find a place near the school just to study there..

No the math compass test isn't hard at all.. for some strange reason.. Ambria's math compass test claimed that I didn't really pass it and I needed to take a math class..which I've taken a TON of math classes during the times I was in college.. the very next day I took a math compass test somewhere else...and did AWESOME on it..and even got 84% on the Math part of the TEAS.. so I don't get how that all happened at Ambria.. totally weird cuz it was easy as hell.. but anyway...

The clinicals for Ambria are all in Chicago.. the next LPN program starts in Sept from what I remember... I'm still applying to two other schools..but I got a good enough score on the TEAS test at Ambria so they said I have a guaranteed seat. They should have all the info for you on their website.. not sure if a bus/train goes out there or not... I live near North and Ashland so I'm further south than you but 94 is pretty much right around the corner.
