If you are currently a student, have graduated or going into this program, how do you like it? Do you feel prepared for nclex? How are the teachers, clinical sites? Anything and everything will be so greatly appreciated! I would love to hear any input that you can provide for me. Thank you. =)

I'm not sure but I used the pell grant, along with federal student loans, and wia funding which covered all of my tuition.

Hi, me and my boyfriend want to go to americare. i was wondering after the loans and the grants how much did you end up paying?

And we want to take as many classes together as possible, does that mean we have to place similarily when we take the placement exam?

Well i am currently a student at the school, & I just finished a pre req course which was math for nurses, it was pretty cool, learned a lot...I like the school as well bec of its flexibility with classes, morning or evening.. I will be starting with their summer class for lpn.. I have one computer class that had to be taken & then i will be all done

Hi All!

I know these questions have been asked repeatedly but a lot of the responses were old and I know info changes all the time at these schools. I was just wondering what you think of Americare? Current students, what is the schedule like for the daytime LPN program? How are they with transfer credits (I know a lot of schools say they take transfer credits but when it comes time, they won't accept them for one reason or another)? I spoke with a rep on the phone the other day-kinda rude, but that's okay, I'm assuming she isn't an instructor!- and I was told the tuition is between $22-24 thousand for the program. Is this accurate? Did the pell grants and federal student loans cover the tuition? How long did it take to get the WIA grant and what is the max you can receive? Where are clinicals done at? Do you feel like you are getting a quality education? Oh, and how long does it take to complete the program?

I wish there were other LPN schools that are able to offer federal financial aid! Hoffman Estates is really far from me (I live on the North side of Chicago) but I haven't found any :(

Any info that can be given would be appreciated so much! Thank you!!! :D

I wish they didn't have to move.

I wish they didn't have to move.

I attended their information session. They said they're moving because they need a bigger building for their RN program that starts in May. Honestly,I don't mind driving... I have a friend who drove all the way to another state looking for an RN school.

So what did you think about the school after going to the information session?

There are 2 Americare's... one is in Schaumburg..not sure about Hanover Park... and the other one is in Park Ridge and I think the one in Park Ridge is no good! Also, different people are going to have different opinions about certain schools because not everyone is going to be happy most of the time.. it's up to everyone to do their own research and find their own answers for themselves to make their final decisions.

Is americare accepting students from chicago ?? and was anyone able to get their RN completed at a local community college?? Thanks

Americare Technical School (the one in Park Ridge) did not even meet the 75% pass rate required by the Board of Nursing to be in good standing. By the way the 2010 NCLEX result is already up at the Board of nursing website. And Americare Institute has the highest score among all private LPN schools. It also has the biggest number of graduates. That's why I'm going to Americare Institute. Look at their website. www.americare.edu. They're also starting an RN program.

If you want to check out the pass rate on your own, here's how to do it.

1. Go to the Center for Nursing website. http://nursing.illinois.gov/education.asp

2. Choose Illinois Approved Nursing Education Program Pass Rate - Last 5 years. You'll see the result.

Im currently at Americare - later changing to Ambria College of Nursing. I feel that Americare is a great school. I just feel that the communication needs to be worked on. After nursing fundamentals, you instructors are top notch nurse practicioners. Research anything that you do in life; then make the decision. The nclex rates are high. I just think that business communication isnt as set in stone as if you went to a community college. People do graduate from here. I think that it is any easy program to get into, but realize that they have the same educational standards anywhere else. I just feel that the high cost to attend and easy admission leads to a high amount of casualties. This is not an easy program. Nursing is high critical and deserves motivated people. They offer you your chance to suceed. If you dont put the time then its not worth your time. I recommend it if you can deal with last minute changes with the school. and if you are motivated to open a book. They are only asking you to open the book and read it.
