If you are currently a student, have graduated or going into this program, how do you like it? Do you feel prepared for nclex? How are the teachers, clinical sites? Anything and everything will be so greatly appreciated! I would love to hear any input that you can provide for me. Thank you. =)

hey thanks for the very fast reply..so do you drive everyday from your house to ambria? i wish i can find a place around that area so i can at least rent. do you know anyone or around there who's doing a rent? so okay they want me to take a math compass test too but i already took math 99 and math 118 too..so did you take a math class at ambria or you test out and passed the compass test for math?

You're welcome hon! I'm not in the program... if I do go there..I'll start in Sept.. but you only have to go there a few days out of the week.. either 2 or 3 and that's in the full-time program. I would just drive there on the days I have class if I do go there. I only know a few people who live out that way but they live in houses. Seriously, I've taken that Math 118 and some algebra class at Wright.. but WAY before that.. I went to Loyola.. and I seriously took probably 5 or 6 math classes there too and I they still made me take their math compass test..but for some reason.. like i explained...it said I didn't pass.. where I would have to take another math class instead of testing out of it...seriously, that's just not possible... for the reasons i stated before.. there's no way in hell I'd take a math class there.. not for $900..f that! oh yah.. if you have already taken a math class and you don't get the score where you test out of the math class there.. you can't take it again... but people who haven't taken a math class.. they can get a not so great score, where they don't test out of the math class and they get to take the compass again. For me.. they told me I had to take another math class...and then I could take the compass again.. I need another math class...like I need a whole in my head..I used to take math at Loyola for fun...crazy I know... but I alot younger then..:lol2: I'm not sure what i'm going to do.. I'm seriously hoping I get into one of the other schools that I'm applying to so then I don't have to worry about it

The SAME thing happened to my friend. She was in a high level of math at her old college, but they told her she failed the math test...weird..Heck,she is MY math tutor lol and I passed the test at 2 other schools..

As far as I know...the 22k is just for the tuition. I could be wrong but I think you need to apply for the WIA near where you live..I think you can find out about it through your unemployment office...I'm sure you can do a search to find out where you can apply. There is a place on maybe the 5000 block of Sheridan Road. You can also ask the school about scholarships...

Thanks Smokey,I really appreciate your help,22k without books and uniform is too expensive.

You're welcome.. Actually for private schools..that's pretty much how much it costs just about everywhere.. give or take a couple of thousand...

This thread prolly has info about the costs...https://allnurses.com/il-nursing-programs/lpn-private-schools-437909.html

I would just say to do your research. There are other schools that are cheaper that do include the books..not sure if any school includes the uniforms though. When researching your future school you have to include EVERYTHING in the costs..even transportation,so one school might be 3,000 less but if its an hour away from your house you have to consider that..especially with gas so high and during Illinois Winters. What I did was write down every school and made columns for the pros, cons, prices, and other things to determine which school was a best fit for MY education and MY lifestyle. Also, make sure that you know where the school has its clinicals..which may be really far from the campus. Finally, cost is a big issue when finding a school but it's not everything..all I can say is to trust your GUt when you tour the campus and ask lots of questions..If u can talk to a few students as well.Good luck!

Thanks Loveblossom, ambria is an hour drive from my house, but I don't mind driving because they have financial aid its 10 months program.I was hoping I will get 8k from wia,but the wia location have been going for orientation for the past 3months just told me they have to suspend wia for now till futher notice and am hoping to get into LPN @ ambria in Sept, with my financial aid,I still have to pay like 5k which I cannot afford unless I get wia or Idph scholarship(which is not certain, with 3.6 GPa and Efcc of 0).I have most of my preqs from City College of Chicago, but its hard to get into their nursing program.Maybe I'll try Chamberlain(20minutes drive from my house) out because they have lots of scholarships and financial aid and with all my prequs, will have a BSN in 2yrs4months.Just that I don't have that patience to be in school for 2 years straight.I am so confused.

Where do you live hon?? If I don't get into another school...I'm going to Ambria in Sept...but I still have to get my CNA... dread! :lol2: Honestly, if you have any plans on eventually getting your BSN..you should go to chamberlain...if you feel as if you could stay in school for that long. I'd go there if I had the GPA...

Adek,I sent you a message about WIa....when does the program start in September? Towards the beginning or the end.

@Smokey are you getting your CNA at Ambria?

@ Loveblossom,am just reading your message about the wia, would have replied through private message, but I don't know how to do it since am new on this site.I think the program starts middle september, its just 10 months.I called another wia location today to schedule an appointment, hopefully it won't take long, please if you have any other information regarding the best location to get wia in chicago,I wouldn't mind and any scholarships info too.@ smokey,I stay in south chicago,I'd love to get my BSN,but I'll prefer to get my LPN first.I have a degree in finance,I don't really want to be in school for a long time.I just got my CNA last month.I called ambria today and the financial aid lady I spoke to said the remaining tuition(5k) which financial aid won't cover will be cost of my books and some other things.
