Anyone in Advanced Patho?

I am in it right now and I'm ready to lose my mind. There is so much information. I never knew a brain could hurt but mine does! I think my instructors may be trying to kill me ;) Just had to vent - studying for my next test which includes GI, endocrine, musculoskeletal and hematology...

About youtube videos, I recommend none. Not that this is the right answer. I study full-time and I could never get through reading everything that was required of me in Patho and the other two classes to find extra time to go to you tube. I did google some stuff that I didn't understand. I was constrained time wise. I even bought a textbook that was recommended in here by someone. I think it's called Rapid Pathophysiology. I never opened it. The textbook we used was very comprehensive with a study guide, and if you had time to read it, you would not have a hard time passing the course. It is a MacCance (sp) textbook and has good chapter summaries at the end of each chapter.

I love the youtube videos. They are usually very good and the ones that I listen to are from Nursing faculty or MDs. I have found them very helpful in understanding complex problems.

I like Khan Academy Medicine for the patho of a problem and then Andrew Wolf (a graduate nursing instructor for other things). You can also search on youtube something like electrolytes and fluid balance and there are instructors that have posted lectures.

I am taking patho in the fall so I am doing this as a way to review BEFORE taking my class.

Thanks,

Cindy

I think youtube and google are both good resources for getting background information and gaining better understanding on basics. If my adv patho information can be obtained via youtube, I would be concerned about the depth of the material I was learning! lol

Please keep in mind that most of the youtube videos that I mentioned are from nursing faculty and they are current lectures. They are usually around an hour long and have several parts to cover a topic. Therefore they are in-depth and taught by graduate level nursing instructors. For example, Andrew Wolf teaches NP students Patho.

To each their own! I enjoy hearing different ways of explaining a complex topic and learning other mnemonic memory strategies.

I agree...I'm reviewing whatever I can and the mix only benefits my retention of information. Kahn Academy has some great beginner type videos for a refresher.
