Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone--

Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?

Crossing my fingers...!

el-do,

I found this on the website that helps find short term lodging.

http://campuslifeservices.ucsf.edu/housing/off_campus/lodging/

Some of the places are near UCSF shuttles that will take you in front of the campus, others are walking distance. Since it's so close, I'm not sure what the availability is. But you should give a call.

I hope this helps.

Is anyone else interviewing the morning of the 23rd?

I'm getting more and more nervous every day.

Good luck to those of you interviewing this Friday!

I am. I am interviewing afternoon of 23rd.

hey, sammypi! sorry for the delayed reply. i'm interviewing for the family NP track. i used to volunteer at WBFP as an MA. my name is Tony. Perhaps we know each other???? What is your name? Oh, and is anyone confused about the emails that were just sent out from the office of student affairs???? the first said for me to arrive on the 16th at 12:30, and the next email said CORRECTION arrive on the 23rd at 12:30. to make things even more confusing, my interview letter (snail mail) said the 16th at 8:30. ???????????

after calling the office, the person said to arrive on the 16th at 12:30. i don't know if i trust any of this and would be devastated if arrived at 12:30 only to find out i was supposed to be there at 8:30. anyone else in my shoes??????

Hi there - I'm in the DAP program at WB, have only been here since April - what a small world! My interview's on the 16th in the afternoon as well. I'm planning on going early - just to be safe. I'm having the same qualms you are about being on time. Yikes!

Hi! I remember meeting you at the all staff meeting in September. We sat at the same table, with Morgan and a few other folks. It's nice to know I'll be seeing a familiar face at the interview! I also plan to arrive by 11 or so, just in case there's a problem with BART or MUNI. You never know!

I remember that! How fantastic that we both have interviews... now we just have to get in! You may already know this, but Morgan has an interview, too. Very exciting.

Whoa crazy I just logged on to see what was up and here I am mentioned by name already! Feeling the :redbeathe ... Anyway, hi Tony! Congrats on the interview. I'm interviewing this Friday (I can't believe it's already here) for ANP.

Much luck EVERYONE.

Morgan! Great, are you interviewing in the AM or PM? I am scheduled for the PM with your colleague at WB. (I think her name is Sammy? She does DAP.) If you are interviewing in the PM, it would be great to see you at the lunch at noon. Would be calming and refreshing to see familiar faces.

Interviewees:

I want to let you know that just because current MEPNs aren't meeting with you doesn't mean we aren't thinking about you. All of us have been talking about how interviews are coming up, and everyone has expressed interest in being "that person" who has lunch with you- that happened for us last year; looks like this year it's not in the cards. We're pretty bummed about that, but we're sending good energy your way. Those of us who are up at 4:30AM to drive to clinicals will be collectively remembering what it was like.

Please know that our best thoughts are with you, and that we wish you all the best. Relax, put your best foot forward, remember that you have good questions to ask of the faculty and nurse managers, and just remain calm even if for some random reason you get thrown a curve ball.

Show your passion.

May you shine brightly tomorrow (or next week). Now, GO TO SLEEP! And DONT pick apart your answers for the next few months, because even though I know you will; it's not constructive. Just chill the funk out. It's the best skill you can learn for being a MEPN. Trust me.

Hugs,

Star:D

Morning of the 23rd, here! I just got the email with extra info yesterday.

Also: where are folks staying? I don't know the city at all and would like to be able to walk to UCSF in the morning...

Check out hotels in the Richmond or in the Sunset District.

If you look at the SF Muni Website, anything along the N-Judah will take you LITERALLY to the front door of the parking structure on Irving, where you can take the elevator up to Parnassus, and then cross the street and go into the main building then up to the school of nursing.

I also know there's a hotel on Stanyan St that's pretty close. Any hotel in the financial district, albeit expensive, will have good parking and cab service, and they tend to be pretty close to Market St.

More important than hotels, lemme tell you where the coffee is...

Closest Peets: Broderick between Fell and Oak

Closest Starbucks: on Parnassus/Judah (same street, changes name) across from the hospital

Closest Awesome Croissant: Cole/Carl at Le Boulangerie in Cole Valley (and I mean, YUM)

Closest independent coffee zone: anywhere around 9th/Irving, a super cool area of SF known as "the Inner Sunset" that has some great little places like Arizmendi Bakery, Cafe Gratitude (okay, that's super hippie), Park Chow, and the Beanery. And it has great bars for post-interviewing (it's 5:00 somewhere).

Good luck!

good luck to everyone who is interviewing this week! :)

Good evening all you MEPN hopefuls. I second Star's comment about our so wanting to share with you our experiences of last year at this time. I was glad to have the all too brief encounter with you this morning when Sheila was taking you on a tour. What I saw was both enthusiasm and just a little anxiety about the day. From my vantage point, your enthusiasm far outshadowed any dread, fear or anxiety. I'm sure that sparkled during your interviews.

That part is now over and yet another wait ensues until "the letter" arrives in early March, or it did for us. Like Starr said, Chill out, enjoy this down time over the next 6 weeks, give your self some rest, treat yourself to a mani-pedi or a massage and know that you did an awesome job today. Reward yourself for having gotten this far.

For those of you who still have interview day to go, get your questions together, be sure of what you want to achieve in nursing and what your future goals are. Be the awesome person you are to have gotten this far.

Enjoy the holiday weekend and marvel at how far our country has come to be inaugurating our first African-American president.

If you have any questions, I'll try my best to post responses.

:yeah:

Hi Folks,

I have an interview for the afternoon of the 23rd for the PMHNP specialty. Has anyone heard about a mixer the night before? I heard from Mr. Linton about lunch and the afternoon session but that was it.

Any word on likely interview questions?
