  1. Hi Folks, I have an interview for the afternoon of the 23rd for the PMHNP specialty. Has anyone heard about a mixer the night before? I heard from Mr. Linton about lunch and the afternoon session but that was it. Any word on likely interview questions? Lis
  2. Wow! So in VA its the CNS's that can provide therapy. Huh. The breakdown as I have understood it is that the CNS's are more involved in teaching, leadership, management, and also patient care while the NP...well why don't you tell me. Any other Psych/MH CNS's or NP's care to weigh in? If I want to provide consultation, therapy (individual and or group), while also diagnosing and treating pt health needs what should I do?
  3. Hi, I am a MEPN/PMHNP applicant for UCSF and UVM. I have been working in the mental health field for the past 6 years as a residential line staff, wilderness therapy counselor, drug and alcohol counselor, and skills trainer for foster children. I am excited about providing both therapy and health care to clients. I love studying the body and often thought about going in to medicine but decided on the PMHNP program because it seemed like the best blend of both worlds. With all of this being said I very much want to learn how to provide high quality psychoanalysis and therapy. Are there any PMHNP's, or CNS's, who are/were at UVM or UCSF who can comment on their education?
  4. I was really impressed when I visited UVM's nursing program. In talking with faculty I had the sense that these people are committed to, and tremendously excited about, what they are doing. It was a nice contrast to New England's other MEPN program. I grew up in NH and have always heard that for a public school UVM rivals the ivy leaguers. The official word from the office is 16 and they have over 100 applicants to pull from with no interviews for this year. I asked on 1/5 about the acceptance/rejection letter and the office said that the letters should go out in February, "maybe early February." I also applied to UCSF and gratefully got an interview so I can only hope UVM will like what I wrote. I would love to hear from anyone who is in the program, especially a PHMNP student, to learn what they think of it. Lis
  5. I would like to know when to expect a letter from UVM for the MEPN program - and also how people like it.
