Hi everyone--
Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?
Crossing my fingers...!
i applied to the neonatal intensive care track, you? i'm taking my last pre-req (physiology), trying to study spanish, and i'm a TA for anatomy. i don't have any kids, just a very supportive boyfriend and 3 cats. i can't believe how much time this has taken. i've been actively working on my app for 1.5 years. i don't know how i'm going to be able to wait until december to hear anything. i'm glad this thread is active again though, it'll give us all a way to pass the time and obsess over our apps.
More Please:
I know this thread already has some info on this, but would you give us some insight into how your interview day went?
Also, in general. Does anyone speak another language? I speak Spanish, ok, but another poster on the thread said they do part of your interview in Spanish if you indicated you spoke it. Now I'm super nervous and searching for an immersion class. Does anyone know anything about the interview in another language?
thanks!
Interview day consisted of nice informational sessions, tours, and either one or two interviews. I had one interview in the afternoon of "interview day" and one a couple weeks later. The first was with a professor in my chosen specialty, and the second was with the clinical director (an FNP) of a health clinic. The first was about "Why this specialty?" and the second was about "Why nursing?" I thought both interviews went really well. Perhaps it was telling though, that the professor told me to apply again if I didn't make it the first time.
@MorePlease: Thanks! But now if they tell me to apply again, I will analyze it to death :)
Hopeful: I know, I just signed up to volunteer at a local community center that's mainly Spanish speaking.
This is killing me, I constantly feel nervous. In a few days, I'll burn out and finally crash. Maybe then I can get some decent sleep.
You know, I wouldn't analyze it to death. I think that she told me that because she thinks people have a better chance of getting in the second time around, not because she thought I would be a bad candidate (that's what I'm telling myself, anyway :-)). The interviewers don't even have access to our files pre-interview, I believe.

Oh, and yes. I'm antsy. Putting the application together took a lot of time and energy and now...I'm waiting. (Well, and working full time, taking anatomy and statistics and trying to give my family the energy they deserve as well. So at least I'm keeping busy!)
