Any trainings offered in the Philippines?

Published

Hi there... I'm a newly grad BSN here in the Philippines and still waiting for the result of the board exam... i wanted to attend trainings for IV therapy, BLS, etc.. if you have infos regarding trainings or institutions conducting trainings of such here in the Philippines, please reply...

thanks so much!

Are you wanting those certifications for working in the Philippines, or for the US, or other countries? If for the US, do not waste your money, you will need to retake any of the classes that are required in the US. They will not accept any of those certifications.

The courses offered there are only valid there, not for most other countries.

thank you so much for the tips suzanne4

I don't know if you happen to know NC-CLEX here in Manila. They offer a lot of training like IV-therapy, ACLS,, etc. They claim that they are accredited by the US and have US standards in training. I have actually attended 2 of the seminars and it costs a lot. Does this mean it won't be recognized in US? Though IV license will expire in year I just want to ask anyway, because I'm planning to take several seminars before I leave. Thanks in advance for the reply.

Any training on BLS or CLSA in the Philippines will not be honored here in the US. They will require you to take that again once you get hired or these can be a requiremnt prior to employment.

That is just my point. When you get trained in IVs, you do not get a certification that expires in a year. That certificate means absolutely nothing. If you are not using the skills that you learned there, then it is useless to you.

Just because someone states that they have US Standards, that again means nothing to us here in the US. If your job requires BLS, or ACLS, do not waste your money taking it there, wait until you are in the US and your employer will pay for it in most cases.

If you are asking for my opinion, save your money.

Thanks for this useful post! I'm actually thinking of attending/taking training seminars in NC-CLEX and others to gain more skills. I was almost swayed into taking it because the claim was that their certificate is recognized abroad. I guess the only benefit to taking it is learning and applying that skill here.

@desiree929 - If you do have the extra money, go ahead and do it. you have nothing to lose but instead gain knowledge. when the time comes and you need to retake it to gain certification in that country, then, you won't be new to it anymore. at least you have some experience with it and will be more confident.

dearest fruity,

please listen to suzanne, rep, and me:smokin:....do not waste your money for any training such as iv therapy, acls or bls. all of those training certificates will not be honored when you get here in the u.s. first, for the bls, the hospital facility does offer free bls classes to their employees, if not, you can get it at any american red cross, or the american heart association branches ( for a fee of less that $100). any cpr classes/certificate from another foreign countries are not recognized here. the same with your iv certification. the hospital facility here will not honor that. they will train you with the supervision of rn licensed iv therapist once you get hired. remember, any claims that "their training certification" is accredited by us hospitals are full of lies..they just want your money. lastly, don't worry about training for work if you plan to work here in the u.s., any new grad is not required to have any hospital experience at all. focus on something else. like nclexrn exam review?

Thanks for the replies. Definitely not take any of those anymore. I feel like I have been cheated!!!!:banghead:. And I rembered it clearly on the last day of my BLS training, someone was roaming around and selling certificates for 100pesos, claiming those certificates to be part of the training you took. Good that I didnt buy any of those "senseless papers".

Exactly what we have been saying. And with the number of students now in school there, expect to see more of these places opening that just want your money. There are not enough jobs in the world for the number of students that are currently enrolled in your country. Not sure where they intend to work, but only a very small number is going to make it to the US.

Please listen to what we are telling you. Save your money.

IVT for local is not offered for those without license so if you want to attend seminars for the mean time you are waiting for the results of the local board you may do so... try to inquire to local hospitals near your place and at the same time try to contact philippine national red cross. :) for first aid and basic life support trainings :)

Any training here in the Philippines is only for here then. It'll also be good to gain that knowledge just for patients here. Thanks for all the advice, I'll think twice about taking any courses.
