Any Tips for New LVN Student?

Published

Hey, I'm currently looking into becoming an LVN/LPN and I would just like to know if anybody had any useful advice on what to expect or maybe even some study tips and tricks. I have already been certified as a nurse aide, so I'm no stranger to hard work. I'm just doing my research before I dive in head first. Thanks! :)

Flashcards are one of the best ways to study (IMO of course). Make them using your notes/textbooks and flip through them often.

Awesome! I will definitely do that. Thanks so much!

My instructor said exactly the same thing. Start now and never stop.

This was the one piece of advice I wish someone had given me when I first started LPN school. Once I started doing NCLEX practice questions on the material we were studying in class, my test scores improved significantly.

Highly agree with the nclex study questions. Obviously everyone is different with their study tactics, however, I found it helpful to read before coming to lecture and then take notes while in class. After lectures I would make notecards.

It's just about finding a tactic that works for you and sticking to it. Good luck!

My biggest tip I can give you is to get your house in order before school starts. If you have kids, get them into a good routine and let them know what to expect. Organize everything. Once school starts you will find it runs much more smoothly for you. I did not take this advice and I spent the majority of the first semester going crazy trying to organize things. I'm a bit better now luckily
