I said I wouldn't start a thread, but after reading everyone elses stories. I know I am not in this alone.
I am so down and out thinking that I have failed Nclex-Rn 5 times. My self-esteem level is -0. I am so so HAPPY for everyone that has passed, but I keep saying WHY CAN'T THAT BE ME!!!! I have tried everything from A-Z and nothing seems to help!!! What am I doing wrong??? Other than my anxiety level is 1000% when I set down to take the test.
I will be taking the test again in March. Please pray for me that the Lord will give me the strength to pass this test the sixth and final time!!
Hey is there anyone else out there that has failed the test five or more times!!!!
NCLEX is horrilbe. It took me a year before I would even sit down for the test. I am a horrible test taker, and as I always said in school C's get degrees. there are the book smart people that get A's in school then you put them on the floor to do the work...and they don't know what to do when you give them a real live patient. When I finally passed the test, I got the min number of questions, I left crying. then a few weeks later, I got a small letter in the mail!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I passed. the thing that helped me was Kaplan. I did the online review. it cost at that time like 250 or 300 bucks, but everything they did on that and everything that was in that review book was on my test! so that was what I reviewed!
so good luck!
I have tried kaplans online course, I did the learningext online course, I have bought every nclex review book out there. I have started on Suzannes plan and I hope that works. I wish I could find a tutor. Does anyone know any in Kansas?
I am just at that point where I don't even know where to begin. I have taken it 5 times and every time I have gotten all 265 questions and every time my 1 below passing standard has been a different topic. So now I feel like I need to study everything and just not sure where to start. Does anyone have anything?
Please help.
My hand is up there with you. I haven't set a date this time, awaiting my ATT, I know the routine for retaking only to well, only thing I am trying to do is PASS, that is the only word in this world I want to see.
I have contacted a previous professor and will be meeting next week. I had to admit if only to myself I need help. I know there is something I know I have to do different. Hoping she can say something and see through me, and pinpoint what I am lacking. In Fl. this is my last try, I have already went to a refresher course(state required) which honestly did not help, only hurt wallet.
I am doing my inteeded 100 questions and looking at rationials, which helps alot. I wish everyone the best of luck, and only hope I will be a succus story soon. I have never given up and don't plan to, Fl may think otherwise, It's hard BUT we all will get through it, some how.
I am thankful for this forum to vent- Well, it's time to hit the books, Again, GOOD LUCK TO ALL>
let me first say i terrible i feel for all of you! but let me say that you can do it!!! i know how hard it is to pass the nclex. i myself had to take it 5 times and finally passed! what a glorious day it was! i got on the www.learningext.com and took the 3 week course for rn review and i firmly believed that is what finally helped me pass (and the lord's help as well!!!). there are longer courses you can take but i definitely think this was well worth the money. you can make it! don't give up! persistence pays off. please pm me if anyone has any questions or needs any encouragement. i'll be praying for you all!!lauren, rn bsn

i really feel for you all. i took the test and failed the 1st time and know what it's like to go through everything and be let down. i know what helped me pass the second time was (god for sure) and the helen feuer nursing review cd's and review questions. i took kaplan before the 1st time, did all the q-bank and question trainer questions, went to the class and failed with 75 questions.
second round i actually got a few questions from the helen feuer on the nclex. i also did all the cram exam review book questions, which also had questions on nclex. i did 150-200 questions daily and listened to the cds while in my car, doing chores, and sleeping..lol. did not schedule for the exam until i got over 80% consistently on all exams. passed with 265 questions..lol
i know several people who failed and then passed using learningext. when i learned about it, i already got helen feuer home study review and it was more than i needed.
also anxiety is a huge factor. take lots of breaks and pace yourself. i took about 4 breaks. and don't tell anyone when your taking the exam. this way, you don't have to go through the whole "did u pass?" questions. :angryfire:
don't give up and know that you are not alone. this does not reflect on your ability to be a great nurse.:redpinkhe: :pumpiron:
i almost forgot..as soon as i got infront of the computer and started the test i wrote down on the eraser board they gave me all the lab values, abg rules, anything that i needed to know that i might forget to answer a question..lol that helped because when i froze i just looked at the paper. good luck!
hi,
Be confident, study hard and WE WILL PASS boards!!!!!
We have come too far, went through nursing school and I am not going to let this exam ruin my dream to become a RN.
We all will be RN!
p.s. what are the rest of you guys studying with or have found other reviews (kaplan, hurst, feuer) that are not helpful.
i am a horrible test taker, and as i always said in school c's get degrees. there are the book smart people that get a's in school then you put them on the floor to do the work...and they don't know what to do when you give them a real live patient.
i got as and some bs in school because i studied my butt off. i couldnt afford to take a class twice, and i was paying alot for school and wanted my full dollars worth. i would like to think i know what to do with a real live patient. i hear people say "oh she is book smart" and sometimes i agree wtih that, there are some people that are "book smart" but not everyone that does good in school is just book smart. i always said i was a b student who wanted really bad to be an a student.
Oh my gosh, my heart is going out to all of you!!! Because I did pass the first try, I just can't imagine the degree of anxiety you may be feeling. I am sending the VERY BEST VIBES to each and everyone of you. Your sheer perseverance is to me a testimony of the kind of nurses you will make. Is there a limit to how many times you can try? I cannot remember. So many good thoughts coming your way from me, and I know from others:)!!!!

I know that WE CAN DO ALL THINGS THOUGH CHRIST THAT STREGTHENS US!!! With his help we will get it!!!
