Any TCC - Tarrant County College Spring 2020 hopefuls?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I know I am super early - but is anyone else hoping to apply to the Spring 2020 class? How are things going?

I am taking the first pre-req now - A&P I. I will take A&P II and micro in the summer. It's going to be a crazy six months but I am determined to get all three pre-reqs done by the August 31 deadline. Nursing will be a second career for me and I am ready to jump into this, like now.

I love science and I love people. I am always "diagnosing" family members around me the moment I hear them sniffle ?

I also just registered for the HESI! The new exam dates were listed on the TCC website today.

is this for a BSN or just ADN? I'm currently going to TCC and have a 4.0 from there but I'm applying at some other schools. Do they offer a BSN program?

TCC just offers an associates. They have agreements with UTA and TWU though...so once done with TCC, you can do 2-3 semesters at UTA and have your BSN!

Finally I can reply to one of the nursing cohorts as a hopeful!!!

I just completed my last Anatomy course and am taking nutrition in the summer. Took my Tdap a few days ago and have an appt for titers on Monday. I am scared and excited all rolled in one! I plan to take the HESI in August. Does anyone know if the program allows you to choose when you do your clinical? I saw some courses on webadvisor that showed Sat and Sun so I’m praying for it!!

A&P1-A

A&P2-A

Micro-A

I’m also applying for Spring 2020.

My stats are:

A&P 1 - A

A&P 2 - A

Micro - A

Hesi - 86

I’m hoping I can get in with the 86 and all A’s on my science courses!

Spring 2020 hopeful!

Stats:

A&P 1 A

A&P 2 B

Micro A

Will take HESI in August. Does anyone have any advice or remember the nature of the questions asked when they took the HESI? I have a couple study guides, and am using quizlet. My friend recently took it and failed the math portion so I am now extremely intimidated as she is pretty bright, she just hasn't taken a math class in recent years and neither have I. Also FYI, effective June 2019, A&P will be on the HESI but will not be factored into the overall grade that will determine acceptance into the program. I spoke to an ad visor today about it and it was added for the 2020 Fall program. They can't offer 2 versions of the HESI in a single year so you will have to take it, but it will not count against you or help you.

Not sure if you’ve heard an answer for your question yet but I went to an information session and they were very adamant about NOT getting to choose your schedule unfortunately. They said there’s too many students to allow everyone to choose so you get what ya get! Clinicals could be some weekends or evenings depending what’s happening but we won’t know until they assign us.

Spring 2020 hopeful!!!

AP1: A

AP2: B

Micro: B (Im retaking mirco this Summer for an A)

Hesi: 89.5 (Retaking the Hesi this August)

Ive already started studying for my HESI retake by using the pocket prep app this time. My highest score was math with a 94%, Reading comp 92% followed by vocabulary and Grammar 84% and 82%. The Hesi review book helped a-lot with the math but I feel it didn't cover vocab and grammar well. Ive been told that the Pocket Prep App was a saving grace so I will solely use it to study for the non math sections. However if you have any tips for vocab and grammar sections please share them!

Ive also registered for AP2 for the Fall semester and when admitted I will just drop the course. Good luck to everyone!

Just a quick update on me, the original poster. I unexpectedly got called into WORK on my original HESI date! I have rescheduled it for August (doing everything last minute, *sigh*)

I also didn't get to take micro like I wanted. I am trying to take it during the 2nd Summer 5 week session that starts July 8, but all the classes are full. PRAYING someone drops it, and I can get in. I just put in notice at my job too, so that I can concentrate on school and studying, especially if I end up squeezing micro into a 5 week session.

Good news though, I completed AP 1 with an A, and I am finishing up AP2 with an A, as we speak.

So:

AP1 - A

AP2 - A

Micro - ??

HESI - ??

Wishing everyone the best of luck. :-)

Just found out from online advising that auto drops for non-payment happen every Wednesday! I just might have a chance. Will be checking Webadvisor 12:01 am Wednesday morning.

I am going to apply for Fast track option at Tarrant County College

A&P I - A

A&P 2 - A

Micro - A

Completed co-reqs except 1 Psych which I am currently doing now.

Hesi - Will take soon.

I just have a question. Online it says you have to pass the tests for 3 courses in order to be eligible to join in the summer program,

just not sure where do I do this? If anyone would know, I would appreciate the information.

Hey lurve! Firstly...great grades! You can get a referral for any of the credit by examination exams from online advising. The test are taken at the testing center at Trinity, I believe. But, I think the deadline for the fast track option was in March? I may be wrong, but I think fast track starts in the summer...so apps have to be in by March. Double check!

Is anyone going to the nursing info session on Tuesday? I wonder if it will be new info, or just a review of the information already posted online.
