Any swboces LPN students for 2016

Published

hey I was hoping to get conversation going about the upcoming swboces 2016 LPN program for people that are eitheir applying, been accepted, even past students.... I feel this will keep us all together on program information. I have seen it done for previous years but I can't seem to link with anyone about the 2016 program...I was accepted into the program for this year, looking forward to starting.

That's comforting to know they hire LPNs. Does she like her job now?

Yea, when I look on indeed.com there's a lot of LPN jobs for Montefiore... One of the few hospitals that still hires LPNs

I worked at Montefiore when I volunteered and it was a nice place to work. Does anyone know if we need to buy stethoscopes for class?

Not really too sure about the stethoscope... I know some schools give clinical bags that will contain a blood pressure cuff and other clinical neccessities... But I don't know if that's the case for us... I also looked at some YouTube videos that show nursing students displaying their nursing school supplies and almost everyone of them go for the 3M littman stethoscope, kinda pricy though... Lots of students suggest investing in a good thermometer

Yes she loves it!

So does she work as an LPN in a clinic type of unit, or is it on the units with patients doing bedside care? Because I saw the openings but I can't really tell whether it's for bedside care or more outpatient clinic stuff..

Yes I get so many mixed reviews about stethoscopes. Some ppl say don't spend too much money because they get lost and stolen, and others say to invest in a good one.

It's ambulatory (clinic setting).

Same here.. It might just be a brand name thing or the quality of it might be good... I'm almost convinced to invest in one after all the reviews...I do know that sound quality differentiates between different thermometers, but I'm sure they are all equipped for the job...it will be a cool thing to treat myself to though lol

Lol I meant differentiates between stethoscopes

It's ambulatory (clinic setting).

Oh ok... Do you know if she had already been working there or did she land the job as a new grad LPN?

Yes me too! I want a god quality one, I feel like it will help with knowing the sounds and it will be easier to learn.
