Any suggestions on what to use to carry all of these books?

Published

Hi All,

I will be starting nursing school in July, and it was suggested that we use a rolling backpack (of some sort) to carry all of our books - we have SO many and our teacher wants us to bring them all everyday! :uhoh3:

Do any of you have suggestions as to what type has worked best for you? Any websites with pictures would be most helpful.

Thanks in advance!

The north face Recon backpack has a ton of room and is really light on the back. It wont fit all the books necessary but of you just need something for general notebooks and the occasional haul to the library this will work great.

I'd invest in a good xerox machine/scanner and only scan/copy the needed material. Also I can highlight the copy and not mess up the book to resell.

I had a rolling backpack and found that my back was more weary after using the rolling bag than when I used my good quality backpack. My guess as to why is that I'm on a multilevel campus. So, there are steps everywhere, and I still needed to lug the thing up and down the steps. However, with my good quality backpack, once it was on my back, I was fine.

That is true about the rolling backpack...when there are stairs it is a nightmare.

I've been giving this some additional thought and thought of something that might be a good solution. There's a company that makes bags that are sturdy, lightweight and seem easy to manouver. The company is called Zuca (zuca.com). The bags are pricey ($130-$145 US) but the bags are removable and washable. They also have double wheels at the back to make it easier to go up stairs. The frames are made out of aircraft grade aluminum and you can even sit on them. I was going to wait until I started classes in the fall though to see if I'd need a lot of stuff with me every day too though.

A friend had one of those, she switched back to a backpack as well. The double wheels made it easier to pull up the stairs, but she was still pulling up that weight.

Now, I'm speaking about a good quality, well fitted backpack. It should be snug to your body (not hanging halfway down your back). So the only time you're lifting it, is when you're putting it on.
