This is the second time applying to nursing programs around where I'm from, and I'm not having much luck. I've gotten my CNA, I've been volunteering at a local hospital for 7 months, I got an 86 on the TEAS, a 29 on my ACT, and a 3.5 GPA. I've retaken some prerequisites that I didn't get high grades in from freshman year I have mostly A's, a few B's and 2 C's (in microbiology and ethics). I'm also CPR certified for healthcare workers and have been holding a job throughout my 3 years in college. I haven't received a grade lower than an A in the last year. I've already retaken microbiology and ethics but I either have tough luck with a teacher or don't do well on a test so I still haven't done better than a C.
I don't know what else to do to improve my resume. I don't know if it'll be worth it to take those classes a 3rd time. I'm really frustrated and feel like I'm stuck. My parents feel as though I should try to find a new career path.
Any advice is appreciated. (:

It isn't "tough luck" or the "teacher". You either earn the grade or you don't. I went to nursing school living in an apartment with the roof falling in and eating once a day. Tough luck? I think it is good luck.
Teacher? You will have bosses you don't like. You will have coworkers you do not like. As a nurse you must navigate all conditions and succeed. Your parents? Total non starter and childish. You are an adult. No one wants a nurse who doesn't show up for work because mommy told them not to. I get that you are frustrated and I appreciate you are working and trying. Just tweak some things and never..EVER..blame others or "luck" for your situation. That is a trap that leads to go nowhere jobs and a life of "should and coulda"

I feel your pain. This is my second time applying to nursing school, but I am also applying to accelerated programs.
I will say, if it's what you really want, keep pushing for it. Be proactive.
Are you applying to community college programs or other programs as well? What about other states?
Keep your head up. Good luck to you! :)

Have you been given a reason for denial? Is there someone you can make an appointment with at your school to discuss how you can make yourself more competitive?

Always have a backup plan. What else, besides nursing, interest you?
