Any Santa Fe CC RN grads or students out there?

U.S.A. Florida

Hello,

I was just wondering if there were any SFCC RN grads or students out there that could give me some insight into the program? I have only heard great things. I have put in my application, but I hear that a lot of people don't get in the first try, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I already have my BS and applied to UF's accel BSN but did not make the cut. I really hope to get in at SFCC the first time around. Thanks to anyone who answers, its greatly appreciated!

If you were accepted what was your total points, if you don't mind saying?

When did you find out you were accepted? Was it earlier than what they told you?

How are the faculty?

When do you start clinicals?

Overall experience at SFCC program? I'm biased since I did get my AA from here.

Thanks again,

Monty78

I only have 78 pts. b/c of the ten points for applying last year. I have taken all the extra points classes including all the coreqs. I hope I get in:uhoh3: . I know a girl who had 78 points who didn't get in last year. But we will see. How many points do you have? Good luck to all of us, I know I will need it. ;)

Okay, the second time you applied they should have given you 10 extra points. Did you get any points for Work Experience? If I'm understanding correctly, you had 68pts the first time?

Did you take all the coreqs at santa fe?

Jenn,

Congrats on the 20! I was worried about the CT exam, but its really not so bad. I'll take my time for sure. The first time I took the test my scores did not go through and I had to retake it due to a computer glitch. I always wonder if I did better on the first test, but I'll never know. Second time around I changed answers and I'm not sure I should have done that. I sure hope I can score a 20 also, 5 points really make a difference that'd put me up to 80 points total. I still have not taken nutrition yet, I wish I would have taken it Spring semester, but I just wanted a break and I was hoping to get in to UF. I'll have to take it in the Fall and if I get in to the program I'm worried about having that along with the Nursing Process I course.

Have you submitted your application yet? Good luck, I know you will get in this time for sure.

Hey, Monty

Most likely you'll get in the program :) Nutrition isn't hard at all! Devote your time to the nursing courses. I'd recommend taking nutrition online and don't forget to take the CT exam!!!!! see ya

I have all the points for work experience. Yes, you're correct I had 68 points last year.

Hi Butterfly,

I'm glad to see a few people from Gainesville on here also. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one on this site for a while there. 78 points may be enough to get in this time. Do you have a preference where you go? What were the requirements for Lake City CC? I've heard that its not as difficult to get in there like SFCC. SFCC has a a lot of applicants. I've heard different things about people getting in to SFCC. One girl had 74 points, but had a bachelors degree already and she got in last year. I applied to UF for their Accelerated BSN program and they only look at people who meet the minimum GPA and GRE scores, but then they only accept the people with top scores which I was out in that category. SFCC is accepting more applicants this year, so that's a plus.

Good luck and try not to worry, you'll get in to a nursing program.

Hi Jenn,

I was going to take nutrition online, but I'm not the best online course person. I really need that person to person interaction. I wanted to take it Summer A with Dr. Herrmann, she's a great teacher, but it was during work hours and I need to work. Did you take nutrition at SFCC online? If so, who did you have?

I'm going to retake the CT exam probably next week. I haven't studied any for it though. I did print out notes from the website you gave me, thanks again for that.

I really hope that they will notify us in June of application decisions, mid July just seems so far away. I put my application in last month and the wait is killing me.

See ya

I took Nutrition at Miami Dade College

My perferred choice would be SFCC because I live here in town. I also appiled to SFCC's LPN program as a backup plan b/c I just don't want to waste another year of doing nothing ya know. The only difference in Lake City's program is that they require you take Speech. I heard it was pretty to get in also but they prefer they're students.

I took A & P II online and regretted that, I still managed a B, but I might as well taken it on campus for as much that I had to be there for an online course. That's what I don't want to have to worry about, plus I hate all the group projects and required posting that online courses make you do. I'd rather take a course where I just show up and only have to worry about tests. I work full-time and have a husband and daughter to get home to.

I re-took the CT test and got the same exact score! I even studied for it and thought I had a handle on it. I found myself second guessing a lot of my answers and changed some of them. I knew I should have just left it alone and I took my time. Oh well, I can't change it so I'll just see what comes of this. It is a bit discouraging though. I'm just ready to know whether I got in or not.

Talk to you guys later.

Monty:

We're on the same page, I have a husband and a son to come home to, so I feel your pain. I can't wait to know either I hope I get in this year if not Im thinking of changing my major to dental hygiene, they make just as much as nurses. I just really want to do nursing because I've always wanted to be as nurse since I was young. My dads a nurse and my mom used to work as a CNA so its pretty much in my blood. But my current 9-5 isn't gonna cut it for too much longer, my son is getting older and much more expensive.:lol2: Venting a little i guess:) Thanks for listening and Good luck to all of us.:balloons:

Can I just say how happy I am that the deadline has finally come! Now just waiting until July to hear back.

Good luck ladies, hope that we are all in the Fall '07 class.
