Have any nursing schools cancelled clinicals yet because of COVID-19? I hear about colleges moving classroom sessions online, but have yet to hear of clinical cancellations.
Are any of your schools requiring special screening for students prior to clinicals? What about travel restrictions? Some hospitals are not allowing staff to work if they have recently traveled to high risk areas. Are such rules being applied to students, too?
(I coordinate student experiences for a hospital and am trying to keep track of what's happening throughout the country in this regard.)
Thanks to all those who respond.

We have 2 long term care facilities who have declined our students. However, we have others who are just requiring a screening and competency in PPE procedures.

llg, gosh I hope not!
My school just announced this morning they were extending Spring break by a week in order to allow their staff enough time to modify their curriculms to better suit an online format.
At this time, there has been no mention of the nursing program, specifically, and how this change might affect our clinical participation (and therefore our final graduation date).
All I know at this point, is that I was supposed to begin my pediatric rotation this coming week, and it's unlikely that I will be able participate as scheduled. The big question is whether or not this is something that will/can be rescheduled for a later time, or whether it will result in an incomplete or failure of the entire semester. As it stands, there are several students in my cohort who have already missed a clinical, and now are facing clinical failure; I'd like to not be forced into a similar situation.

The hospital where I have clinical rotations just had its first positive case and as of now our clinicals have been cancelled for the next two weeks. The college has also switched to online classes for the rest of the semester and encouraged students to return home :(

My program also suspended clinical for two weeks and will be going online after our extended Spring break until at least April 12th. I’m now in my last semester trying to get my leadership hours so am of course freaking out. I just want to graduate

SRNA here, our clinicals haven't been cancelled and the sites we go to have reported cases of COVID-19 and even deaths from it... A little worried about this.

No clinical for us for the foreseeable future. All LTC, skilled, and assisted living are on essential staff only on advisory from our health authority. Still have classes though.

I'm in Boston. I had my mental health clinical yesterday with no word on future cancellations and we were supposed to have maternity clinical today, but I woke up to it being canceled. All simulations and labs have been canceled. Classes are remote until early April (although I foresee classes staying remote imo.)

In downstate NY. All clinical has been cancelled. All class has been moved online. Don’t know what we’re gonna do. No plan in place.

Our school has canceled clinicals for the rest of the semester. Instead they will use an online alternative for us to meet our required hours. I’m afraid of how this will jeopardize my future job opportunities as I am about to graduate this semester and will not have completed a real role transition clinical.
