I lodged my application to QNC december last year. I received my first assessment with my documents from them last week of February. I had only one document lacking which I sent on the same week, but received by them on the first week of March. Then a week after, I had the approval to take the CAS. The definite reason why most applications take long to be approved is that the documents are not submitted completely during the initial application--like IELTS, verification of initial registration, NBI, evidence of recency, competence and fitness to practice, etc. Mine just actually took 2 months.

Anyway, right now, I'm just awaiting for their reply regarding my intentions to proceed for the last written exam this April, which is already next month (Oh oh!). They already had my receipt, but, in their letter, they reinforced about the current status of CAS in relation to the national registration of Nursing in Australia from 1st of July. The letter served as a basis for applicants--those who were approved and can still sit for the last written exam, like me--to choose whether to proceed with CAS or wait until the imposition of new requirements for national registration.

Don't worry, just wait patiently for your assessment. I believe QNC and CAS have been working out for the extension of registration time of the existing applicants. :)

i already took the part a march 10, 2010. i still don't have my results yet. if we don't pass the assessment test will we be able to reapply in july?

I was also one of those who took the last written test on April and failed. I've read through NBV's site that if you're currently registering, then your registration will still be valid under the new national scheme. I don't know if it also applies to Queensland. What I do know now, since we have failed the test, we could not proceed with our application under CAS. It should mean, therefore, that we have to reapply under the national scheme. As of now, there are still no appointed "national boards"--which are in state/territories--that will provide the initial registration requirements. This is only what I have understood for now. I'm not really sure about this. If you want to know by yourself, just go through the different links given by the nursing boards (such as Victoria or Queensland).

thanks coffeedreamgirl, so what's your next move? do you think we just have to wait til july and see from there?

I already had another option before I applied to QNC. My uncle in Brisbane enrolled me at a university in Queensland. It is a 1-year Conversion Program for Overseas Qualified Professional Educated Nurses. But, the intake is on February 2011. And, it's only my last option since it would be a long process if I'd take this path. For the meantime, I think I'll just wait for the national registration. Do you intend just to work in Queensland? I also plan to apply in Victoria.

1 yr is quite long, but if its the last option we've got then i might as well take it. Yeah i'm planning to work in qld if time permits. I did not apply in other states. You are right, we'l just wait for the outcome this july. If u dont mind, do you know how much is the tuition fee in UQ? thanks!

That's actually the university where my uncle applied me. The tuition fee is around AUS 21-23 thousand. You can go through their website: UQ International - The University of Queensland, Australia.
