Well, my 3.43 and 88 didn't cut it. Big surprise, I know. ;-) So I am retaking PSY real fast this summer to get an A. Here's hoping a 3.69 is enough to cut it, though I'm not holding my breath. I bet passing the proverbial camel through the eye of a needle is easier than getting into NS.
Anyone else??
Hi everyone. I am in the PHCC program now and I thought I would come back here and help answer some questions. I was searching for some of the same answers when I started.
*Littmann - which one/model? And from where??
I have the littman classic SE and it works really well. It's about 80 bucks. The ones in the bookstore(on your list) are not very good. A decent scope make blood pressure much much easier(and pretty much everything else too). I would recommend getting a decent one.
*Is anyone planning to use an iPod touch for clinicals?
I wouldn't do this. Some schools do use these for clinicals, but PHCC does not. There just isn't anything you should really need to look up on the spot and it will look like you are texting your buddies. The hospitals often have posting that you should not be texting on the floor, so it may make you look bad. I have an iPod Touch, and I use it for a lot of things, but not nursing. There are reference books on the unit.

Does anyone use a laptop during lectures? I type much faster than I write (neater too ), but I don't want to be the only one clacking away at a keyboard distracting everyone.
Also, for clinicals, how long before we are doing more than CNA duties? I work as a CNA now on the weekends, and have enough fun then, I don't want to have a fun overload

West Funds teachers had no problems with laptops. Some people used them.
You will mostly do CNA work(though you work under your CNA)though you eventually may get to do a couple things they don't do, it will be rare in the first semester. Your load should be much reduced compared to your weekend job.
I just wanted to give a heads up to those that might want to get started before orientation!
There is a Nursing Club at PHCC called the PHCC NSNA(National Student Nursing Association) Our next meeting is Nov. 22. It's open to pre-nursing and nursing students. We just got back from a great state convention in Daytona. I encourage anyone interested to come check it out. It's a laid back, no pressure environment and you can meet some current nursing students and nursing faculty. Send me a message if you're interested and I can help you get to the right place.

OK, Friday the 19th, say 7pm. Can we do Cantina Laredo? My wife and I have been wanting to try it there. We're getting eerily close to nailing down the details HAHA
