Well, my 3.43 and 88 didn't cut it. Big surprise, I know. ;-) So I am retaking PSY real fast this summer to get an A. Here's hoping a 3.69 is enough to cut it, though I'm not holding my breath. I bet passing the proverbial camel through the eye of a needle is easier than getting into NS.
Anyone else??
Hello everyone...
I am new to this site as well but wanted to join in the conversation because I got my acceptance letter last week. I will be returning to complete the nursing program after 8 years of being out of school. When I completed all the pre-req's and classes toward the nursing program was in 2003 when the program was based on a waiting list. At that time the waiting list was 3 1/2 years. So when I was finally accepted, I was unable to quit work to go back to school. I just had my first child, a beautiful baby boy, in Sept. '09 and I was laid off in August. So I took it as an opportunity to finish school. I look forward to starting classes in January and can't wait to meet everyone.
I am all about going to the Brass Tap to get to know each other. Sounds like a good time.
Ok everyone, I have a question. Has anyone looked at stethoscopes yet? There are so many choices out there that I am so overwhelmed! I think that I have narrowed my choices but was wondering what everyone else was thinking. I was told that allheart.com is a good place to buy so that is where I am looking. Either way, I am having my name engraved because I have heard that they have a habit of "walking off" during clinicals, and I'm not spending big bucks for nothing.
Don't know about stethoscopes yet Starviolet.., sorry. I'm trying to find a place that offers CPR classes (other than PHCC), New Port Richey, Port Richey, Holiday area. Does anyone have any ideas? Also looking for a good physician that takes care of all of the requirenments (sad to say, but I don't have a primary physician, I always go to the walking clinic...). Thanks a bunch!!!
I took my CPR class from a guy at the fire department in Zephyrhills at my husbands work. Look into the YMCA's or the hospitals because they sometimes offer a class. I have to get my physical also and do not have a primary physician because I have no insurance. I know some people that went to the walk in clinic for their physical and got their shots done at the health department for really cheap. So that is probably what I am going to do to save some money.
Star - be careful, as the woman in the NS office made certain to stress that the CPR class must be through American Heart Association. I showed her my card - which is good enough for the hospital where I work - and it was not up to par. So I have to retake. She did give me a card for someone in Spring Hill who I guess is AHA certified. PM or email me if anyone wants the info.
I have titers from the hospital as well as from our yearly TB test. But I too need a physical and am without insurance. We are getting temporary insurance but it does not cover preventative stuff. I wonder if a walkin clinic would be a good place to go. They are always advertising sports physicals for like $30. I wonder how much cheaper one for us would be???
I have done my background check but that's it so far. Need to do the CPR and physical. I"m trying to pace myself with all this money outlay!

We'll discuss a date and location once we get more people in here. I'd love to get as many people as possible to go. We're going to see our class mates more than our spouses for the next year, we might as well try to like each other
