I have an interview in 2 weeks, I have a few things they have asked me to prepare. Can any one share what they were asked or ask in community based interview/s? So far I have only worked on wards.
thanks SG

My friend had an interview a few months back for a community job. She called the RCN and told them she had an interview and she needed help preparing for the interview as she was clueless, she found them helpful. Hers was as a distric Nurse so won't be much helpful to you but call the RCn she found them useful. what they did was they gave her a date on which someone would call her for the chat. so I guess you can work round you schedule. all the best.
They will surely ask you about Child protection especially any changes after the Victoria climbie case and look up any Government initiatives geared towards care in the community.
all the best tell us how it goes.

I agree with lee. they are bound to ask you Child protection issues, maybe in the form of a scenario. What would you do if.............................
There are some general interview questions as well that you can prepare for
tell me about yourself, why do you want this job, what do you have to offer what ideas do you have for service improvment, that kind of stuff.
Have a look at the key topical areas for community and paediatric nursing at the moment, I don't know them because I am an adult hospital nurse
I know our key areas are waiting time targets, improving quality of care (we have something called fundimentals of care in Wales which is being pushed at the moment)
Go for an informal chat, maybe meet some other members of the team if you can, and ask what are the important things to the service and that way you can get some ideas.
I was asked once how have you prepared for the interview, horrible question but if you can answer it well then you can impress and if you prepared to answer it then you have the information that you will need
Good luck let us know how you get on.
Thank you, sorry I've had no internet connection thanks to my toddler!
I ended up going for an informal vist and getting loads of advice and info. Still need to polish up though. Interview next tues eek!
