  1. Thank you, sorry I've had no internet connection thanks to my toddler! I ended up going for an informal vist and getting loads of advice and info. Still need to polish up though. Interview next tues eek!
  2. I have an interview in 2 weeks, I have a few things they have asked me to prepare. Can any one share what they were asked or ask in community based interview/s? So far I have only worked on wards. thanks SG
  3. Thanks Gwenith, not Noosa Heads then. I've been looking at Google earth, its fab!! Im just trying to work out how far the beach is from kelvin grove, fortitude valley, wilston, red hill, paddington, newmarket area/s. Think I have decided on Brisbane otherwise I will keep chopping and changing my mind!
  4. Hi again Susieok thanks for the info on areas. r.e beaches we are looking for clean beaches were we can swim etc. English beaches have a different beauty, IYSWIM. So its hard to be subjective on what we class as a 'good' beach and what others think.
  5. Thanks guys, Beach wise we don't surf, but hubby dreams of it I am a paeds nurse so like I said I need to be near a childrens hospital. No adults for me its just so hard finding an area, with reguards to what the area is like, what are the schools like etc, is it a good area to live in. What is Nossa Heads like? anyone know? thanks SG
  6. Thanks for the info. Hubby wants 'perfect' beaches so I think we will have to choose another area. Its so hard though!
  7. Hi! any help would be great!! I don't know were to start, my husband and I are looking into moving to OZ on a 136visa. We *think* we want to go to Brisbane. We need to be near a childrens hospital for me and would like to be close to the sea. can anyone help or point us in the way of a site that can? Thanks in advance! SG
  8. YES!!! My unit is seen as the 'easy' unit so we regularly get nurses who are having mental health troubles. We are joked at being the dumping ground. Please don't flame me for my comments/views.. please! We have one nurse who spends 6 out of every 12 months as an inpatient at our local mental health hospital. She is rude, the children are petrified of her, she does nothing but write lists of all the 'wrong' things each nurse does during the day. The various lists are then left for te sister. As a new grad I was sat in the office, she came in (first time she had met me, my first day) and said really rudely 'who are YOU? Why are you here' I was so upset her tone was rude and unprofessional and downright scary. She is allowed to be-little parents and is allow to do as she pleases as she is 'fragile'. Then another nurse when asked whats your name looks down at her badge and goes 'oh yeah my name is x' (she not joking) she sits on the floor in the office mumbling and writing lists as the other nurse does. I do want fellow nurses with mental health problems to be treated well and work but there is a limit. when the rest of the team suffers and has to carry that person its unfair. I am currently going for interviews for a new job as the first mentioned nurse is making my life a hell, as she tells me she hates the way the new nurses are trained. She wants me and fellow newish nurses to go and more courses and be better nurses. Five of us started from class of 2002 they have all left because of this nurse and I vowed to stick it out. I cannot anymore, my mental health is suffering I hate the job I used to love.
  9. hiya im not sure if anybody in the UK as posted here. in the UK circ is not offered unless the boy has a medical problems. on my unit we get a lot of disabled children/boys who wear nappies. 90% are un-circ. the same for the babies. here in my experience it is unusual for boys to be circ for any other reasons than a medical reason. i asked my brothers if people were teased in the changing rooms about this he said "nah, just get teased if your willy is small..." so i think what ever you decide to do children will sadly find somthing to tease another child about http://www.norm-uk.co.uk this is a good site this is a subject i think about as my b/f is Turkish and thinks all boys should. i personally wouldnt want my son circ. Ruby
  10. lisamct could u expand on the prolems, u have got me worried as our patients come in for spinal bracing. so if this causes resp problems it would be nice to know thanks Ruby

  12. hiya whisper we use the stuff by the buckets (or should i say tins) we use it on patients with eczema, and it hasnt made any one react yet. it is so usefull, cos u spray it on and wipe it off. being in paeds its so good for the children with learning disabilities who still wear nappies and have very large bowel movements no bowl no water just spray and wipe!!! Ruby
  13. healingtouchRN what is sassy? being rude?
  14. im sorry I'll have to disagree, have you been in this situation? I have seen my brother do terrible things and my mum tried her best to do everything and anything. There is a limit to anyone's sanity/ patience/ mental health and at some point its gonna break, and it does break. 14yearLPN, my best wishes to you, I understand fully. Ps I have had a couple of slaps and I deserved it!! I was a little cow as a teenager (nothing like my brother I might add) and im OK :roll
