Has anyone used the Alek classes online? I'm wondering how the math and biology work with Excelsior. Thanks!

Excelsior will only accept the courses that are ACE approved,so they won't take the science courses. But the will the the math.
They have accepted my Beginning Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, and College Algebra. You won't get a letter grade, just a pass and the credits.
HUGE TIP: take your time on the initial assessment. If you take your time (there is no time limit, and you can start and stop anytime), you can score 70% on that very first assessment and get credit immediately. I took about 4 days total for all of those courses, just taking my time. As soon as I had finished the assessments, (I got 75%, 73%, and 70% respectively) I added the courses to my ACE transcript, and there were processed within 24 hours.
9 credits, 5 days , $35 (for 1 month of ALEKS and an ACE Transcript). I love it!

The Aleks courses look good. I need an actual letter grade however. Would you recommend say the pre-stats course for someone who has to take a stats course for a grade in the future? In other words, are their courses beneficial in a tutoring sense? I am math challenged and statistics makes me cringe! I thought perhaps the prep course would help me become more comfortable with the subject before I'm officially enrolled for credit. Thanks for your input!
I've played around with the sample course for a couple of days. Although you don't have a text book to refer to, the explanations and examples are good. $20 for a month of tutoring does seem very reasonable.
Well if you actually go through the tutoring it is pretty good, especially for only $20 a month.

YOu can actually request an assessment at anytime from your master account and when you log into the student account, it will be waiting on you.

I agree with Commuter: I took the College Algebra thru straighterline in a little over a week. I paid the 30 to FHSU and it was on my transcript with them within days. 99 for straighterline +39 for the course, cheaper than my instate tuition. I'm taking English Comp I & II thru them now, but its a lot more work involved than Algebra, so it will take me a month or more. Good luck!
