Any NEW info on the Chandler Gilbert Nursing Program??? THANKS!!!

I am looking for information on CGCC too. If anyone knows what their schedules are like that will be awesome.

I will be attending CGCC in the fall and their schedule is fairly decent. Class is from 8am to noon or 12:30 no class on Friday until mid-Oct then clinicals all day. In Oct class also goes until 3:30. I have to say, though, that I have not heard many good things about the school as far as their nursing program. Apparently, being so new to the Maricopa County nursing program, they have a pretty high fail rate and I have heard many students try to transfer to schools like MCC. I have a friend who I work with at the hospital who is in their accelarated program and he did say the rumors are pretty true. The teachers seem to give our info that is of no help on exams and when the exams come the info in them is very foreign. Hopefully, by fall, this will have changed somewhat. I am really looking forward to going back to school after being out of school for 15+ years but really hoping that I don't encounter the struggles I have heard many CGCC students have faced! I talked to some nursing students at CGCC a couple week ago. They were in the first blook of the accelerated program and they said they really like it. They told me that the instructors are really nice and helfull and that they also heard the rumors about the program before but so far have not encounter any problems. I am also starting the nursing program at CGCC this fall, I just hope things are really getting better at CGCC.

Does anyone knows what Lewis book to get? In my packet it saids that they are considering changing to a newer edition or something like that by the beggining of the semester. I don't want to get one version to later find out that they decided to make the change.

I am waiting, I asked at the bookstore and they said that the Nursing dept had ordered the newer version, but it wasn't in yet, but have reserved them for use. I was just planning on holding off until closer to the start of school and knowing for sure.

I am also going to wait before getting the text book. I ordered most of my books through Amazon and got about 1/2 off the price! You can get some almost new used books for much less than buying them from the bookstore. Can't wait to meet everybody from the forum attending CGCC in the fall!! :yeah:

I just purchased my books last night through Amazon. All except the Lewis books because the nursing director at CGCC told me to wait since they still don't know what edition they will be using. I can't wait to meet you all. Orientation is in just 4 weeks but who is counting?? :bugeyes: By the way I did not see anything in my packet about a stethoscope, are you guys buying one? or are you just waiting until orientation?

I actually was given one by my sister who had two (she just graduated nursing last Dec). Otherwise, I would just wait until they tell you what is needed. Have you purchases your scrubs yet?
