Any NEW info on the Chandler Gilbert Nursing Program??? THANKS!!!

Published

Hi everyone!!! Just turned in nursing application and I am trying to decide what I should list as my top choices... I live close to Chandler Gilbert but I have only heard bad things about their nursing program. Can anyone give me ANY information on the program?? ANY and AS MUCH INFO would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! THANK YOU!

Yes I got 2 pairs of scrubs a couple weeks ago, it was exciting to try them on.

Hey girls,

Less than a month to go, I can't wait!!! If you have some time you should go to http://www.dosagehelp.com. I did yesterday and I learned all the formulas for dosage calculations and have been doing practice problems since. I feel like I am not so unprepared now, I know this is only a drop in the bucket of what we will learn, but I feel like I have a little bit of a head start. I also was able to review the metric conversions (it had been a while!!)

How do you order the text books? Because I need one bad please help.

Donna,

If you go to amazon.com and just enter the ISBN number it will bring up the correct edition. Which book are you needing?

Wendy

Hey Chechy,

Can't reply back to your private message (guess I'm not on here enough) but yes, I did get into the program though CHW. Where do you work? I am at Chandler in the Er. I was going to take BIO 205 as well but decided to wait until next summer. I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old so looks like there will be lots of moms in our class! Looking forward to meeting you!

Hey Wendy,

Thanks for the website for dosage help! It does really help to be a little prepared! Just a few more weeks!

Hello Kugalde, I actually don't work for CHW yet. I think I am one of the only or the only one external aplicant that got the scholarship. I am really excited to start and I can't wait t meet my future co-workers :nuke:

Hey guys,

I actually went through the first block of the nursing program already and unfortunately didn't pass by a couple points on the final, but not because I'm not smart enough. I'm starting again this fall though. I do work at Chandler Regional too. The nursing program isn't as bad as you think it is, so no need to stress. This is their first time doing the accelerated program so they are still trying to fix the bugs in it. I have friends, family, and coworkers in the program and all of them are having a hard time with the fast pace and the teachers being not so helpful. Luckily, there are teachers who don't teach accelerated that teach the traditional program. During orientation, Apparal Pro will be there to sell us uniforms and supplies, such as stethoscopes, penlights, etc. Amazon is the best way to go for books. It will save you ALOT of money. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Look forward to meeting you all!!

Tiffany

Tiffany,

Did you start in the accelerated program and now you are going the traditional route? What a bummer to miss passing by a couple of points, I am sure that you will pass with flying colors this semester. One question I have is are we allowed to wear athletic shoes for clinicals, or must we purchase nursing shoes. And do we wear our uniforms for labs also, or just clinical settings? Another question is where were block I clinicals located, I assume in a LTC facility?

Thanks for your insight, and I look forward to meeting you in a few weeks.

Wendy

Tiffany, do you know where the best place to buy stethoscopes is? and what kind are the best? Are the accelerated instructors and the regular semester instructors different? and one last question I promise Do you think you didn't pass because of the instructors you had? I am sure you'll do better this semester. Thank you for the information. :nurse:

Chechy, I just bought my scope from Apparal Pro when they were there for orientation. I know there are better ones but I don't have hundreds of dollars to shell out. I think I paid about $20 and it worked just fine. I think the instructors had nothing to do with why I didn't pass. They were great for me. I do know the program has changed a bit in the last semester and there are some new teachers. I know Karen was one of my favorites and she doesn't do the accelerated program. I guess we'll meet some of the new teachers on the 20th.

Wendy, No I started last Fall in the traditional 4 semester program. I just wore white sneakers for clinicals. I think that's all they require... And we have to wear our scrubs for lab and clinicals. We can wear street clothes for lecture. Yes, clinicals are located at LTC facilities: Friendship village, Mi Casa, Desert Cove, and one other I can't remember. It looks as if we'll either have Wed/Thurs or Wed/Fri clinical days. You'll always have one weekday off.

Hope I answered all of your questions.

Tiffany

Tiffany,

Thanks for the information. Regarding the clinical days, on the schedule they sent with out packet it says starting Oct. 14 we have clinicals Wed, Thurs, Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00pm, so that may change? Scheduling is big for me because I have a 9 yo daughter to get to and from school!!

Chechny,

My sister is an RN and she gave me a Littmann Classic II stethoscope for my birthday, I love it, I am listening to everyone I can including my dog. She got it from Apparel Pro (plus I think we get a 25% discount), but they have a big selection. I think it may be very individual, my good friend who is an PICU nurse has a Littmann and she likes her $20.00 better.

Its getting close girls.
