I was just wondering if any Navy Hospital Corpsman were on this site. I just got out of the Navy and have passed my NCLEX-PN exam. I would love to talk to any current or former HMs that have passed their test, and what they are up now.

I was a Reserve HM(8404) with an ASN so when the Navy told me they were not interested in me obtaining my BSN and becoming a Navy Nurse I made a huge mistake and jumped to the USANC-Reserve. When I was activated for Desert Storm, man I wished I stayed in the Navy. I would have felt safe humping through the Desert with a platoon of Marines then I did with the medical unit I ws with. Is there anyone out there who served as a Warant Officer Nurse in the USN? I was to take the 6 th such billet, according to my recruiter, but Desert Storm got in the way.
man i was a army medic at walter reed around 1998, and we played softball against a bunch of navy corpsmen. we got to become good friends with them and even got some of them to help instruct one of our combat lifesaver courses. alot of them were from bethesda and even a few were stationed at wramc.
I'm an active duty quad zero hm right now? i'm stationed in okinawa, japan and i was wondering how can i challenge the lpn/lvn exam for the state of illinois now? i have over 3 years left in the navy and i trying to get a headstart so i can start working towards my RN/BSN. Also, what's a good online nursing college? thanks in advance
Cool thread! My husband was a Corpsman from 1989-1997 stationed at NNMC in Bethesda, MD. He was given the option of enlisting or being kicked out by his parents, as he had no desire for college. What a great opportunity that turned out to be! After A school, he was assigned to EEG C school, and there he absolutely flourished. He still has no college degree, but knows more neuro than many neurologists, and has a higher salary than I EVER will as an RN. It's crazy.
He made HM2 in just a few years through the STAR program, and decided to leave when the second enlistment was up and they were starting to ask for money to cover dependent healthcare.
I always tell people that there is a lot of opportunity in the military, if you know where to look. Had I known then what I know now, I might've enlisted myself.

Have you checked with the Texas BON? You may be able to challenge the board and become an LVN/LPN with your experience. Also you may be able to obtain a position as a Patient Care Tech.
