Hi, I'm a Muslim and I am considering becoming a surgical tech. I wear hijab and I was wondering if there's any Muslims here who are surgical techs who I can ask some questions about how you wear hijab in the OR. And if anyone else knows how a muslim scrub nurse wears hijab or has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it.:) 0 Likes

In all honesty, I stopped wearing hijab when I started looking for a job. I didn't think there was any way I'd get a job in FL as a hijabi nurse. Maybe Dearborn or NY, but not here. But since then, I've come across several hijabis who are either nurses or techs--I see them at Starbucks wearing scrubs. I almost wish I'd kept it on, but it is kind of interesting being a "stealth Muslim." I find out a lot of interesting things that people probably wouldn't say if they knew my religion. Good luck to you. 0 Likes

Good luck to you.kinda sad u felt the need to compromise ur religion for a job, especially in country that is suppose to look beyond that. maybe now that you know others do wearing hijaab without worry you can reconsider. i know what you mean by the 'stealth muslim' and what some people say when think your not muslim (i get mistaken for being jewish all the time). 0 Likes

Lailah000 Aug 19, 2009 WOW! thank you so much for these pics Unavailable. And yeah I would wear it like the woman one the left in the last picture, underneath the scrubs. I am just concerned that there would be a problem with the hijab covering my neck and being exposed in the OR. 0 Likes
