I am a new nurse with no experience. I had an interview with montefiore on Feb 6. Now I am anxiously waiting to hear back. The NM said I will hear back from HR if I am hired, but this wait is killing me. Especially since my parents are pressuring me to take a temporary job (at a psychiatric hospital) that I do not really want because its not going to provide me with med surgical skills that I need for my future goals. So here are my questions: How long is the wait to hear back from Montefiore and should I contact the NM and ask about a time frame? Also if I take this job and Montefiore contacts me to offer me the job what should I do? Because my first instinct will be to take it and leave this place immediately even if Ive only been working there for 2 weeks. Dilemmas. Please respond as soon as you are able, you can also contact me on my email [email protected]

Hi,
I am in the same boat as the both of you. I meet with the NM then I interviewed with HR and I think it went well. I sent both of them a thank you email. I also sent HR a follow up email about 2 weeks after I meet with them and I have not heard back from anyone. This is nerve wrecking. I know they just got a complete overhaul of their computer network. Not sure if this is adding to the delay. Hoping to hear back soon.

Did you ever get a call back from Montefiore? I have an interview in a week
I have not got a call back since I last interviewed. Good luck on your interview.
Thank you. Can you tell me what questions they asked you?
I hope you get called soon. These hospitals take a long time but patience is a virtue
Really don't remember exactly what they asked me but they were all senerio type questions. For example, tell me a time when you had to deal with a unhappy client, and how did you handle it.
Congrats on the interview! Nothing yet for me. They say follow up in two weeks leaving you hopeful but don't respond to emails. Still keeping the faith though. Is the interview with HR or NM? I got different questions from the two.

Any luck? If it's of any help, I waited 6 months before I got a second interview :/ Had my first interview Sept. 2012, second/third interview in like March and didn't get the job till May.
I got an offer and started 2 weeks later. Waited nearly two months. Census on the unit is 2-6 months wait.

When HR or NM give u a time period, it most often doesnt stick esp as a new grad (unless u have connection). I had my HR interview at Montefiore in Jan 2013 and Interview with NM in March 2013. I only had 8 months experience in clinic/home care. Just seeing and hearing long wait times hearing back, when I got an offer from a city hospital I took it and a year later I'm happy. Dont just wait for answer from one hosp, apply other places and if a good offer comes along, take it...don't give it up just to wait for one hospital.

I agree with you 100% estrellaCR!! everybody in here has to get off the "I got a good vibe from the interviewers" band wagon. lol. Its their job to make you feel like you hired that day and theyre gonna promise you the world face to face. Monte is no different!!! don't worry about not getting your dream job for your first one. get a job where you will utilize and perfect med-surg skills needed for furture jobs. I started out at a NH my first job and worked my way to the rehab unit for over 1 year. I applied to monte using an inside connection and it still took two months to hear from my inside connection before I set up an interview. My advice....apply everywhere while you wait and it wont feel like all your doing is sitting around waiting for one place to call back. Good luck. I love working at Monte but there are other hospitals and facilities where they need nurses. If not monte now, maybe later.
