I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
You can take alot of classes to bring it up to maybe a 3.7/3.8 if you have financial aid, but my advice would be to retake the same classes that are bringing your GPA down, then you won't have to worry about waiting to see what the lowest GPA is that they accepted, you will have a 4.0 and it won't matter, b/c when you retake a class they don't combine the old and the new, they only take the new, which is exceptional! I'm leaving now so we'll talk later!

fyi, you are incorrect about the gpa calculation for the spring semester. if you want to apply in sept, the new gpa will include everything currently on your mdc transcript and any classes you have taken this summer. i was told this by an advisor on multiple occassions.
good luck to all those making alterantive plans. never give up.

Yes, there is an appeal form that you get from registrars and you have to take it up to the nursing dept. secretary for them to approve it, they are helpful with that b/c they know you probably won't get in if your GPA is off by a point
but wait, you have a B in your anatomy? Do you have any C's that need to be retaken? Trust me you can take extra classes but you have to take alot to see a real big difference.
