I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
I stopped checking and even moved on with my LIFE :)
It's pretty evident what "our response" is I cried about two weeks ago and was depressed but I am not over it. And I am just gonna try to bring that GPA up and reapply next year. I am even considering PBCC since they too offer a part time program. So I have some time to prepare. I am not discouraged though it's just not my time..........But I am very glad for those who have kept us informed and our SPIRITS UP even when we were down as well as those that have gotten accepted..........
yes i am very thankful... i do think that we can only use summer term to bring up or gpa's. since the application for spring is due in september only the summer gpa would be counted... but am not too sure about that. i am sticking to mdc because of the accelerated option but god willing i'll be accepted in spring...if not i could always join the circus (no offense to anybody that is a member of the circus i am sure it’s a very rewarding and overall exciting career)
No letter of rejection jet. I think is very disrespectful that in top of been rejected they keep you in the dark until the end. Can you believed that I call yesterday to ask if I had to pay again to re apply and the lady told me, we have not selected the applicants for the full time genetic program jet. I told her I know you already did the selection because I have friends that have orientation this week and that the cut off GPA is 3.8. Is ridiculous they are trying to insult my intelligence. I am so upset that they treat me like a little child:angryfire. OMG thanks god I can ventilate my frustration. But what you said is true the fall classes GPA is no good for next semester the application date close prior to the semester ending, but I think that if you take one or two classes at least you keep your mind occupied.:vlin:

Technically, you both are correct in part. The orientation that took place just 2 days ago was for the Part-Time (I forget when is Orientation for the Accelerated). I'm in for the Full-Time and that's not until the late July. Also, as stated in that coveted yellow envelope; "...you have been provisionally accepted into the Fall 2009..." Simply put, there are still some that will get into the Full-Time but don't know it yet. Don't even waste your time by talking to the front desk, they are pre-programmed. You have to dig a little deeper to get a more truthful answer.
Bottom line, most likely all Part-Time and Accelerated are in by now. However, Full-Time still has a small window opening.
Orientation for accelerated and part-time was together. We were mixed, it was Tues. To answer the question on how to increase your GPA, the fastest most effective way is to retake the classes that you got below an "A" in trust me I know from experience. Also you can take extra classes, but that is the least effective way, even if you make straight A's, it happens very slow when you mix "A's" with an existing "C". For those who didn't take the tests yet, well all I'm going to say is thank God the scores don't count! Best of Luck :)
