Any LPN-RN colleges like Excelsior?

Published

I want to go to a college that I can take online, I'm cool if I have to go to clinicals and travel a couple times during the course of the program even if its in another state. I just don't think I can do excelsior, I need deadlines, actual courses online, not this whole self paced stuff! Also I find the whole excelsior program to be a headache, there's too many studyguides out there and honestly I've bought some of them and they are awful! I know there are online colleges out there for lpn to rn but I haven't found many of them and I'm trying to explore my options. once again I'm cool with travelling across country a few times during the course of the program for clinicals as long as its not like once a month or anything crazy like that! any help??

So you want a school like Excelsior, but not like Excelsior? :) Ha ha, I'm kidding.

The one that comes to mind is ISU, but it's an LPN-BSN. However, the classes are actual courses with deadlines, and you do clinicals locally -- http://www.indstate.edu/degreelink/lpntobs/

Check your local schools for online programs as well. There are some really good ones out there, and you don't have to travel far for clinicals. ;)

i've heard that university of central missouri is a predominantly online program. although it is not far from me, i don't know much about it...it's for a bsn and the university is located in warrensburg, mo...small town about 60 miles east of kansas city. might be worth looking into. i've heard good things about indiana state also.

Hey Kathleen!! Good to "see" you! ;) Did ISU give you any credit for your EC exams?

If you set your own deadlines and stick to them. EC is doable. I started with my first test 2-19-08 and finished 9-9-08 prereq and NC1-7 sent in my $1900.00 in Sept of 2008. Waited, waited, waited to hear a date for my CPNE On 2-20-09 received my CPNE date 5-29 thru 5-31-09 Just passed - I'm still in shock. It is difficult. I work fulltime, have a husband and a 4 year old and we are remodeling our home. Get a calendar and make deadlines - stick to them and you too can get through this program!!
