Yes, we're a few months away from applications for the Accelerated BSN track, but I thought I'd see if anyone else was applying for the BSN/MSN (or just BSN portion) at Johns Hopkins, 2008? JHU is my first choice, but I'm also applying to Columbia, Mount St. Marys College (Los Angeles, BSN only) and Oregon Health & Science University.
I'm nervous as I haven't visited the school yet although the Admissions Officers have been very helpful, answering all of my endless questions via email and phone. I'm taking the GRE in October and I have one shot to get it done and get my scores sent off by the Accelerated track early decision deadline, November 1st. I've spoken to some JHU Nursing Alums via allnurses as well and they've been super helpful with my questions as well (thanks!).
How would I pay for it...? Who really knows...
Katie,
I prepared for two months, using the Princeton Review and Kaplan review texts (with accompanying CDs). I took six full-length practice tests and definitely worked on more quantitative than verbal. You can download the ETS Powerprep software from ETS.org and I found those tests to be the best score predictors. My official score was ten points higher than the two practice tests I took from ETS. I'm anticipating my analytical score though, I feel I did well, but have to wait for 10-15 days for those to be sent via mail.
Good luck!
Update: Whew, I managed a 5.0 on the Analytical. That was the portion I was dreading the most! Now its all officially over! :biere:
I'm still debating whether I should schedule a phone interview or an in-person interview. Either way...I'm ecstatic about it! Has anyone heard anything else about the JHU interviews?Good luck to all!
Yeah, I debated about flying out there for an in-person interview, but its just a bit too costly for a 2 or 3 day mini-trip out there with such short notice in terms of booking flight/hotel. There is no disadvantage to doing it over the phone. In terms of the interview itself, be sure to have any and all questions you may have about the school/program ready to ask, and I'm sure they'll ask everyone that lovely question, "why do you want to pursue nursing at JHU?" I believe the main interviewers are the two primary admissions counselors, Denelle and Chris. They will most likely tell you who you are interviewing with if you opt for a phone interview.
Did you apply early decision? I love that I only have to wait six weeks from now for a decision. Good luck!
I finally decided for the in-person interview and scheduled the appointment today. Definitely pricey, but I figured it'd be a good chance for me to explore what JHU has to offer. I didn't apply for the early decision, and I'm sure the wait for the regular admissions is going to be a dread.

I was wondering if they interview everyone, too. I think some schools do, but then combing the posts here shows that some schools do not. I am unsure. Did they say anything when you spoke to them?
Does JHU interview everybody with a completed application? Just wondering! Just got the email about scheduling my interview..eek!! I have so much stuff going on right now, I hope it's okay to do it in mid December. Definitely going to do the phone interview though.

So this post isn't totally JHU specific, but I took the GRE today and I'm so relieved its finally over! JHU and Columbia were the only schools who required it, and I wouldn't have taken it otherwise (yet, anyway). I got the score I was hoping for, a combined 1200, so I'm happy
Now I just have to wait for one more recommendation to be completed so I can get that application package in the mail!
