Also, can anyone recommend a great place to get my ACLS in the Salem area??

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yeah:

The Salem interships didn't say BSN was a requirement when I applied in Sept. Is that true? and how can I get a live person to ask these questions of at the hospital? Melissa

At this time the BSN is not a requirement, but they prefer BSN's. From what I understand the BSN will be required in the future. This is what a friend of mine who is a critical care RN at Salem Hospital informed me anyhow.

I want to get my BSN but not right now just finished school and want to get out of firefighting and into a nursing job sooner than another 2 years of school. I'll keep putting in apps and making calls. Melissa

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

Have you considered LTC? I know it's probably not what you want to do forever, but you've got to start someplace, and nursing homes/rehabs are far more likely to take a chance on a new grad than hospitals right now.

Sunnyside and Marian Estates always seem to be hiring; why not try one of them?

I don't know how far you're willing to travel, but Good Samaritan-Corvallis has a New Grad position open.

are any of ya'all applyin to state, county and govt jobs? lots of openings...

WOW! What a great community here! Thank you all so much! I have applied everywhere! I did apply to the critcal care internship posting at Corvalis, I applied at marion county, state of oregon, salem critcal care internship--but already got the big no dice there--a few long term care homes, and I talked to the human resources people at Silverton, who are by the way very nice. Silverton said that they weren't hiring new grads but to keep looking at their website, but no new openings soon.

I had an interview yesterday at a LTC facility, and I will hear back by Monday.

I'm stumped. I did really well in nursing school, always had fab reviews, but since I have no experience i can't seem to get hired.

I'll keep plugging along! And thank you everyone very much for replying!!! Its so enouraging to see people in similar circumstances or those offering help.
