Is there anywhere in the US that has a decent job market for new grad nurses or is it just the same broken economy story everywhere?? I am willing to go anywhere I have to so I can get some experience. Thanks for any help

I am in the Dallas/Fort Worth area of Texas. I moved here from California in 2005 to have my pick at more job opportunities, competitive pay rates, and a low cost of living. However, the nursing job market was strong when I first moved here.
There are jobs available in this metropolitan area, but the demand is for experienced nurses. New grad slots are also available, but obtaining one is a fiercely competitive process where you'll be up against many other unemployed new grads.
My workplace is currently looking to hire multiple nurses, but this company only hires those with nursing experience.

Yes, unfortunately it's the same story for new grads across the US. I'm in Ohio and have applied for WV licensure for more job opportunities. Nursing Homes seems to be the only place that's willing to hire new grads, but unfortunately those jobs are few!!! Good Luck

I'm also a new grad from Ohio, relocating to Naples, Florida for a seasonal nursing job in Naples, FL. It's 6 months on a Med/Surg/Tele floor so great experience. Pay is excellent, plus they give you a housing stipend.

Congratulations!! I am also a recent new grad from Ohio and I would LOVE to work anywhere near the beach. I looked at the seasonal jobs in Naples and they seemed to all require experience?? Is there a way around this? I'd appreciate any advice! Thank you!

I relocated from California to Washington DC in order to get a job about ten months ago. DC was basically the only place hiring new grads I could find at that point. I think Georgetown is still hiring new grads and Washington Hospital Center was hiring TONS, but their union is about to strike so I'm not sure about currently.
Good luck!
I would just apply for med/surg positions. Most areas like ICU, ER, OR, etc. wanted a minimum of 2 years experience. I only have 3 months home health experience and they called me the next day for an interview, didn't seem concerned that I didn't have much experience. They asked about my experiences in nursing school as well, and the types of floors and patients I cared for. It doesn't hurt to apply, remember the most they can say is no, but at least you are getting your name out there.

Well, St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck ND has a Graduate Nurse job on their website. Only requires an AD, too. ND is beautiful, but cold.

I am an experienced RN but taught high schoolin California the past 4 years. I am trying to get back into psychiatric nursing, but the hospitals say I need recent experience. I can't get recent experience because no one will hire me. I am willlng to relocate to get recent experience. Does anyone know of a state that is in need of psychiatric nurses? And will hire someone with lots of old experience?
