Hello, I'm looking for ideas that other facilities might be utilizing to decrease falls. We have fall risk assessments in place...etc. We have looked at the decrease use of Benzodiazepines and Vit D supplementation. I'm looking for more proactive ideas that we might not have thought of. Thank You!

If you did well on Hesi tests in school, I would not bother with Kaplan. I bought Saunders Comprehensive Review and Davis 2010 NCLEX Review. It took me several months to review and passed with 75 questions! Good Luck!

Well the real hard facts is that employers now of days are not willing to hire new grads!!! I have looked high and low for jobs everywhere and I'm in my late 40's. If you have a great resume and cover letter you have a chance in long-term care!!! I recently was hired in long-term care after 2 months of searching...you have to be persistant!!! In this job market it is not worth the time to fill out apps at hospitals!!!

Yeekkss..I don't know what to say....your school should have a clinical preceptorship...There is know way you can find experience without any experience....unless your a CNA???

There's an abundance of nurses, especially new grads!!! It's unfortunate that Hospitals, Dialysis, Home Care and other specialties do not hire us. It's a very sad economy and many health care industries are missing out on VERY competent and qualified nurses!!!! I'm very dissappointed in how the health care industry has treated new grads!!!

Long-Term Care...Nursing Homes is the only place willing to hire new grads. I just got hired Thurs. after 2 months of searching! Keep looking online, in newspapers and applying in person at any Nursing Home in your area. Don't give up hope, you have to be persistant. Also, make sure you have an excellent resume and cover letter! Good Luck!

Medical Terminology is INVALUABLE in the nursing field!!! It was a pre-requiste before I could even get into Nursing School. That would be the course to take!

Yes, unfortunately it's the same story for new grads across the US. I'm in Ohio and have applied for WV licensure for more job opportunities. Nursing Homes seems to be the only place that's willing to hire new grads, but unfortunately those jobs are few!!! Good Luck

I guess it depends on where you went to school and how well they prepared you for the real world of nursing. I precepted 9 wks in ICU and after a few wks I was solo taking care of 2 pts. It's all about time management and priorities! Some are better at than others.

In this job market you will find a LPN job before you will find a RN job! If your pursuing RN I would go ahead for your BSN. Most hospitals in my area will not hire new grads unless they have a years experience, but if you have a BSN you have a greater chance of being hired. I'm still searching for work!

You need to worry about yourself and stop focusing on your classmates! I taped my lectures and that helped tremendously! Study groups are useless! They are just a social gatherings and nothing gets accomplished! You have everything riding on the line here, studying every chance you have is the only way you are going to pass! Good Luck!

:nurse:Medical Terminolgy is required by most schools? If you are going to take electives, my sugestion is to take a Spanish speaking course. This has become a 2nd language and valuable to most employers!
