ast8, have you heard anything from UIC yet? I thought for sure we'd hear something today since applicants to the other two departments were notified last week!

Claredom, what specialty did you apply to?

I applied for the Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specialty.

I got word that the enrollment fee of $100 is due May 13th. joy. time to worry about money!

I'm taking the Anatomy/Physiology pre-req at Harold Washington downtown this summer and fall. Are any others who read this taking 226 and 227 there? It would be nice to know someone in the class!

Claredom,

Did Chris Ocampo email you about the $100 enrollment fee being due on May 13? If so, when? I still haven't heard anything about a final decision and I was wondering if he is back in the office this week.

If I get in, I'll be taking A&P at Truman College, up in Buena Park.

Congratulations, ast8!

I sent my deposit in this morning - I am so excited about this program! I look forward to meeting everyone at orientation in October. Good luck to those finishing up pre-requisites - if anyone is taking A&P at Truman College this fall, let me know.

I also want to say a HUGE thank-you to everyone who posted information on this thread over the last few months. The application process was so stressful, but I found it really helpful to share (and vent) my anxiety with other applicants. I really appreciate everyone out there who did their best to keep other applicants informed of what was going on - thanks so much!

I have to agree with Judr - thanks to everyone! What a process this has been. I can't imagine what it would have been like without the board. I hope recommendations are welcome at UIC, b/c I think people here may have a few for next time ;) Good luck to everyone. Claredom, do you know who is the instructor for your A&P? I have taken both at HW (finishing up 227 now) and overall it's been pretty good.

I got into the FNP program. Sweet. Good luck everybody.

Cheddar,

Congrats on your acceptance to the FNP program at UIC! 8-) I have been accepted to their Adult/Geriatric program and I'm really excited, but am having a hard time deciding where to go. I noticed that you are also from the East Bay, CA and I was wondering what made u decide to apply to UIC, if you are going to attend, and what are your deciding factors? Did you get accepted to other schools? I got accepted to MGHIHP (private) in Boston and don't really have a preference. I don't know too much about the program at UIC, so any info. u know that might make my decision easier would be greatly appreciated.

bljensen,

Congrats to you as well. It's a tough decision when picking a school, especially when factoring in out-of-state tuition. Were you able to visit the campus of UIC for an interview? I have family in Chicago and although I was only in Chitown for about a day but it was a blast and I think the only city in the mid-west I could stand is Chicago. I'm waiting to hear about tuition, scholarships, etc to see how much money the GEP program will realistically cost. UIC is attractive to me due to a personal interest in community health systems in large urban areas with severely marginalized populations. I also picked UIC because it's a very good school. I don't think you can make a wrong choice and hopefully try to enjoy the fact that you have a choice. Many people are not as lucky.

If anyone has any questions about UIC, let me know. I did my undergrad there and I will do my best to answer anything :)
