Any hospitals in NYC take new grads in the ICU/Critical Care?

Published

Hi, I am a recent BSN grad. Do you know of any hospitals in NYC that would take new grads in thier ICU? I have looked around and many do not take new grads starting out in the ICU. Any help would be appreciated....Thank you.

Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn takes new grads, I believe, but find out! My mom works there so she tells me the stories!! Good Luck!

I know NYPresbyterian, NY Methodist and NYU take new grads into NICU and PICU. I went to the job fair a few weeks ago and they told me that. Don't know why they wouldn't take adult ICU if thats what you're after...critical care is critical care.

I know NYP-C takes new grads into the Neuro ICU as well.

hi

columbia presbyterian has a nurse intern program for new grads who want to work in ICU. you have to apply and interview twice, it is very competitive and they only take 10-12 people, 2 for each adult ICU. it is a great program though if you are interested in adult critical care. also their ICUs are very high acuity so be prepared. other than that, most hospitals only hire new grads into step-down units with the chance to transfer to ICU after 6months to 1 year. If you have a senior clinical or externship in ICU you may be able to talk your way into ICU interviews at NYU or NY Methodist. Good luck!

I am curious what are the stories your mom tells about? I am set to start my orientation there in Nov.
