Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?

Published

Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

Des Moines, Iowa. Yeah, I know, it's Iowa. But we have two new hospitals opening this fall in the suburbs and both of the major health systems are hiring new grads. I even heard of a new grad getting into OB.

Con: Lowest pay for RNs in the country. I'm not kidding. Plus snow. Lots of snow.

Pro: Very low cost of living, safe neighborhoods, great school and communities.

they are hiring here in detroit. good luck!

No they are not! I have applied for about 500 jobs and have had less than 10 call backs. They are hiring if you have experience...not if you are a new grad.

We are hiring at the hospital I work for in Kentucky....We just hired about 20 new grads and still need more. We have travelers because we do not have enough permanent staff...

I received a email from a recruiter at Cristus in san antonio tx. I live in washington state and there is no way I'm moving to texas. you might try there!

ok well i just precepted a new grad the other night at my work. in detroit. and that is not the only new grad on my floor. or in my hospital. and if you filled out 500 aps then it sounds like you need a resume workshop or something. good luck with your hunt.

I don't know where Eagle Pass is, sorry. I'm about 60 miles north of Dallas. Have you looked into the facilities where you did your clinicals?

I just graduated from nursing school last month from Corpus Christi, Texas and they are hiring new grads left and right, even into coveted specialties like the NICU. I liked it there, right on the coast. Good luck in your job search.

Hi-

I heard that Johns Hopkins in Baltimore is expanding and might be hiring...I don't know if this is true or just a rumor. It would be worth checking it out.

I'm in Philadelphia, and occasionally hear of openings/hiring, but you have to be in the right place at the right time! It's good to try to make connections- most of the time it's who you know!

The problem with John Hopkins is that they are cheap and have the attitude that you're working at JHH you should be paying them for the privledge of being able to work there. RNs can start out at pitiful salaries under or around $20/hr and they do nasty things like charge RNs about 160-200/mo for parking.

Work at Sinai Hosp in baltimore. They won't hire associates degree RN new grads but will hire a BSN grad in IMC or Med Surg in a second and will hire new RNs every two weeks. Medstar (Union, Franklin Regional, George Washington, et.al) in Baltimore/DC also hires new grads, however they only do it twice a year (January/June) when new grad training starts.

NYC and Philly job markets are dead for new grads. Have a friend who speaks Spanish/English fluently but can't find a job in NYC. Finally got one after 9 months teaching CNAs at an Adult Day care center.

All small towns in Texas are hurting for RNs. Come one, come all!

No unfortunately for me I did not have any extern experience. I have been told by quite a few hospitals that is the only way I am getting in right now. And the semester I started nursing school made me ineligible to become one. I am trying to become certified in various things instead in order to help me (I am scheduled to take ACLS in 2 weeks), I have gone to a few job fairs, and am about to resort to stalking the hospitals next week (walking in and asking to speak with someone) They are hiring new grads...with experience. Unfortunately for the rest of the people in my class that were not able to get extern jobs before hand they are having a lot harder time of it.

RNBelle, could you please name a few or a couple cities? I have never been to TX but I am interested. Do you know if they would offer assistance in moving such as trying to find me a place to stay or giving me extra $$ for the move?
