Grey's Anatomy is ridiculous. Not only do they degrade RNs, the RNs don't do anything. Pt needs to be ambulated? A doc does it. Pt needs meds, a doc gives them. Basically, everything RNs do every day is done at that hospital by doctors. Their nurses are either so horrible that they deserve to be degraded or that show is absolutely asinine. I think the latter.
Oh man, I hate Grey's Anatomy so much. My partner got hooked on it in med school and every time she puts it on I get up on my soapbox about the doctors hanging IV fluids, drawing their own labs, etc. I cannot conceive how anyone in the medical field can tolerate it!
I will admit to a soft spot for Nurse Jackie. She says all the things I think. And minus the narc-popping she's a pretty bad*** nurse!
Over here in Australia they just aired a UK doco called "confessions of a nurse" It is like they are reading my mind with their thoughts and the pt ratios are similar to what I dealt with in Ireland.
another UK show "Casulty" been going for years and years, pretty accurte portrayl of nursing
here in Aus there was a showed called "All Saints" another good one.
I'm sure that these can be found on the net somewhere
I liked Hawthorne when it stuck to the hospital stuff and not the love triangle piece. I liked the drama overall for everyone else but I felt it took away from my heroine Christina, I was truly a fan. I absolutely hated Scrubbin' In even though I only saw one episode. I could barely stomach watching just that. The only black nurse they could find was filled with sooo much drama and anger? Really?!!! I'm also a fan of Scrubs even though it was mostly about doctors. I used to watch it late at night so much that the tune got stuck in my then 3 year old's head. Here I am thinking he is asleep until I noticed during the day he kept humming this same tune over and over again. I finally figured out he was singing, "I'm not superman!". LOL

Still watching re-runs on Foxtel ?
"Wit". Emma Thompson plays a woman dying of cancer.
Nurses are portrayed accurately in my opinion.
Gizmo13 said:So...Drama like "HawthoRNe" with Jada Pickett Smith in it. I liked it but it was a quick few seasons, all nurses!
I watched a few of these. I also liked that it was based around nurses. But one episode always stuck out to me. Jada walked out of a room where there was a code or something obviously emergent happening. A doctor yelled out an order, "Push potassium stat!" ?
I don't know if I watched it after that.
