Any Fundraising Ideas?

Hi guys,

I am a new nursing student and my class has to raise money for graduation. We have to raise a good amount of money for it to be nice. I wanted to know if any of you had any fundraising ideas that I can pass on to my class. Any idea will help. :D

Our class sold candybars (a big hit on campus if you just walked up to people to ask if they wanted one) pizza kits, bags andd clothing with school name and "college of nursing" embrodiered on them. If I think of more I'll let you know. You could try a bake sale, craft sale, or one of those coupon book things, a car wash (in scrubs could make it fun).

We did bake sales, car washes, candle sales, home interiors, lunches, T-shirts, Pepsi machine (made $600 in 2 years off just that machine alone). We did every type of fundraiser you count think of -big issue - we fundraised almost all the time with school aged kids....so that was tough.

We sold PSNA (pre-SNA) memberships to pre-nursing students for $10 a pop, we sold a ton. Allowed them to attend our SNA meetings, buy our stuff, made them feel like they were a part of our program - and the administration also allowed them to claim this on their nursing application, allowing them an extra point or 2 for activities...win win for us all there.

We hit up local business for lots of donations.

We made a little over $5,000 in 2 years which paid for various items throughout our school, conferences and then pinning.

These are some great suggestions. I'll have to keep them in mind for my class.

My suggestion is to check out the local restaurants. Usually there will be some specialty that people sell for fund raising. Where I live everyone sells chili.

Another idea that one of the other classes is doing is to take over a local club for the night. They're selling tickets for $5. What I know is there is going to be dancing, a raffle and food. I usually don't go to clubs, but I will for this event.

And a final idea is to sell nursing supplies like a stethoscope, bp kit, fanny packs, clipboards, etc. I bought my supplies through my student nursing org.

My son's youth group is doing a raffle. $5 a ticket, winner gets $500. Everything over that in tickets sold is pure profit.

we students sold chocolate-covered almonds - I remember going door-to-door selling them with excellent results, or taking them to my part-time job where other co-workers bought them

This is not always legal in all states. It may be legal in yours but in texas for example it is illegal and the state has nailed groups doing this. there is a website out there that sells candles. They are the best smelling candles you could imagine and they are extremely popular. They are called Candles & Moore. they specialize in fundraising candles, Great price and wonderful candles. My wife and I love those candles.

We raffled theme baskets. You can get a good sized wicker basket at Michael's or about any craft store. Everyone in your class donates something related to the theme (Easter, Halloween, Christmas, etc). Even some local businesses (B&B's, florists, spas and salons, etc) would donate goods or services. Arrange items in the basket, shrink-wrap and ribbon it and display it in the hospital lobby for a couple of weeks; students would be on hand during specific hours, and others would sell tickets in the community. We made pretty good money that way.

Sweatshirts and t-shirts with our school logo imprinted on them did well, too.
