Any Fall 2008 UCLA - MECN Program Applicants out there?

thanks for the encouragement lucy! hopefully we will hear by tomorrow nursinstudenthopeful and others! i'm not going to think about any of this tonight...i'll post if i should come across some good news tomorrow...if not, i'll probably be crying in a corner at home... anyways, until tomorrow! have a good weekend everyone!

My letter came yesterday in the mail and my roommate read it off to me since I wasn't home. =/ I am going to USD, great very welcoming and warm program. :) Good luck!

Good luck at USD. I'm sure that you will enjoy it. I applied there as well, but was turned down. It looked like a very good program. However, it would have been a killer of a daily drive for me from Irvine, plus I don't want to pay private tuition if I can help it. What disheartened me so much was that I wasn't even granted an interview. That tells me already that I am not a top tier candidate for any school. However, your application, particularly your statement of purpose essay may catch someone on the admissions committee's eye as a unique candidate. That is what I am hanging my hat on.

Yes I'm sure that you have a great application, they just went with something else, maybe it was some prior health care experience? I'm not sure. I am working to get a master's right now too, so that might have helped. :) Good luck!

OMG, I can't believe what happened! I was told they didn't have my resume so I emailed it to Shelli. I got an email back saying that they couldn't download it. So I faxed it. Well I just called her and she said they were not able to review it because they never got my resume. So I guess that's it. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I guess I was not meant to be in that program. I'm just happy to know. Call her too, the relief is worth hearing the news IMO.

Moral of the story: Get you materials in EARLY & follow-up to make sure they are received!!

Well I just called her and she said they were not able to review it because they never got my resume. So I guess that's it. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I guess I was not meant to be in that program. I'm just happy to know. Call her too, the relief is worth hearing the news IMO.

that happened to me with another school that i applied to for spring admission. once they saw the error, they emailed me to confirm that i was "withdrawing my application for consideration". uhhhhh, no. i ended up not being admitted. i later found out they didn't even calculate my GPA correctly, and said that i didn't make the minimum cut-off. mind you, i have a 3.8 in the classes that they required for admission. needless to say, i was :angryfire ... but, things have worked out in another way. you're right -- everything does happen for a reason.

I am surprised you just heard about this- did you receive a notice that your application was complete?

So does this mean that those who have not heard had some irregularity with their application and likely not admitted?

I knew it was missing, but waited to the last minute to turn it in. If you weren't contacted, you should be fine. This was my own fault for not calling to make sure it was received. I was waiting to start my volunteer work at Children's Hospital so I could put it on there. No resume = incomplete application = no review.

If the wait is killing you, call Shelli. She was very nice. Now I can enjoy my weekend and move forward to the next steps in my life.

WOW!!! That doesn't make sense! Didn't you get an e-mail message from Shelli a little over a month ago telling you whether your package was complete? If something was missing you would think that she would have followed up. I suppose not much can be done at this point even if it was the school's screw-up, but still.

I did, and I procrastinated like a dummy and she emailed again and finally it was down to the day before reviews and she emailed me and I emailed it back. Got an email saying it was not able to be downloaded and so I faxed it. Maybe I faxed to the wrong number. This was in my opinion my own fault. I'm gonna just think of it as fate's way of saying this was not meant to be for me, at this time anyways.

I waited so long, she had no time to follow up. I'm gonna take this as a learning experience and work on building up my resume and make sure to get all my materials in EARLY next year. She said they could keep my stuff for review for next year, so at least I know they have most my stuff already.
