Hi all,
I would like to know if there are any nurses who make at or over 100k per year just working as an RN - not CRNA, Advanced Practice etc., just bedside nursing... and how do you do it, overtime, premium pay etc. or any other combination that works for you and where are you located? I know east and west coasters tend to make more. I'm asking because I want to increase my income so that I can knock out some student loans before going back to school and piling more on. Thanks for any and all replies.
For well over a decade I earned over 100 k a year. Easily. I saved and invested, now I work only part time and between salary and investments I have more than doubled that annual income. I could easily fully retire. But I like nursing, so I stay part time. No more than 24 hrs a week. And I usually take 4 vacations a year now. Life is really is good.
There really is good money to be made in the DFW area with a little application. Some good saving and investing, can really pay off for you after a bit. Now is a good time to invest also. My home is all paid of also. Except for my annual taxes. Be industrious, be wise.
Well, I've been a nurse for 30 years. I work 36 hours a week. Everyother weekend, in an er. 12 hour shifts 3p to 3a. I made 90 last year. If I would have worked full time I'm sure it would have been 100 or over. I also get paid more for charge , precept and there is a weekend diff I work in Ohio. Not bad for just a " bed side" nurse. I've been in management and a "bed side nurse". Give me bed side any day. Way tooo much is made out of management positions. We "bed side" nurses need to stop giving so much power to management! The longer I'm a nurse the more I truley think management needs to deflate their egos a bit. Seems America is starting to realize the know it alls at the top don't really know it all at all. Degree after degree, name title after name title ,and they still have hospitals in a mess. The real talent is doing bedside nursing !

I'm industrious and wise, and I hope I can take several vacations a year when I get old, too.

I will make a little over 100 grand this year based on my year to date income. I did a lot of overtime the first 4 months of the year but had to stop because I did not want to get killed by Uncle Sam. I have been a nurse for 18 months and my pay is $37.00/hr. I live in the Boston area. 100 grand does not go as far as it use to!!!
