I applied and wanted to see if I actually have any chance. I had applied for spring 2012 but didnt notice that I had to take statistics which I am now in progress. But everything seems good. I just want to hear and compare my application. My TEAS score was 83.5 and my prereqs science is Micro B, Physio B, Anatomy C, Chemistry Organic/Biochemistry A, Intro to Chem B. My other prereq: English, Critical Thinking, Speech are all A's. So what happens to my statistics do they make it into a C or B for now or how will my points be for having one in progress. I have over 100 hours of volunteering and speak Spanish. The sucky part is that i dont attend STAN STATE or live in the area.
I had worked in a clinic as an Medical Assistant for one seasonal term.
Do i have a chance? please advise.
I'm excited and nervous at the same time but this is my future so I can't wait to actually start. I've just been preparing for the med term and math test we are getting.
definitely prepare for those tests. the professors are awesome and having a small class helps professors remember each of you and that's great cause they would write letters of recommendation for you. I just scheduled my NCLEX for june and i'm so excited! I'm using the Kaplan and Saunders books to review. can't wait to start working as an RN.
When you start, you'll have -------- as one of your instructors. Tell her Marjorie says hi. lol
Most professors are strict at times but nice and fun as well. They're all easy to approach if you're a good student (just don't do anything to annoy them).
@mgp6: I got accepted to Nursing program for Fall 2012 also. I just want to ask you what will they test for medical term? just basic terms? disease? Will they test the dosage calculation?
I sent them the Notification of Intent to Enroll on 5/10, but until now I didn't hear anything from them. What's about medical supply or uniform?

Hi Nurse2b209,
i guess we will be classmate for Fall 2012. Very nice to meet you. Stanislaus is only one school I applied. I just want to ask you if you receive any information about the orientation for Nursing which is on mid Aug? When can we register for the Nursing courses? They dont tell me any information about what to buy for uniform or medical supplies...
Nice to meet all of you,
Tuyet

you'll know more about it when they send you a letter about orientation and of course, during orientation.
For the medical terminology, it's pretty much basic like what is hyperkalemia, galactorrhea, hematemesis? so you have to study what each prefix and suffix and root words mean to figure out the meaning of the word. Buy a medical terminology book that will teach you those.
I vaguely remember it but I think there's a math test during first semester. You'll have a math book.
You won't really need your scrubs yet, they'll let you know when to buy them. But you will definitely need to buy a stethoscope. The rest of supplies needed for skills will be provided to you.
Every semester after the 1st sem, you'll have to take the math test and pass it 100% because making an error is like causing harm/killing a patient.
During orientation or before, they'll let you know that you'll have to do a 2-step TB skin test, physical, immunizations, urine drug screen, and background check. You also need to take a Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers class to get your certification.
Wow congratulations!!!! I've heard about those books, do u think that I should start getting familiar with the nclex even as a 1st semester student? People have been telling me different things but I know the instructors will tell us what to learn.

Oh wow that's good to know!!! I really hope I get in too because I really like attending Stanislaus and I don't want to have to go back to the community college for RN. BSN is my goal so I guess I'll be waiting to hear if I get in. Thank u so much u made me feel a lil better about being an alternate lol.
