I'm a 26 year old mom going back to finish nursing school this fall at CCAC. I plan to work at St. Clair hospital when I graduate. I would really appreciate any advice any of you could give. Thanks everyone!:)
:balloons: I wish you all the best, jenn! :) I was a mom of three schoolaged children during my college days to become a nurse, too. Setting priorities and laying all else aside helped me get through it. I managed to still keep my family FIRST, school second, and still graduated with honors. The kids are grown with their own families today, and while the task of being a full time student, parent, and wife was quite challenging, I have no regrets about any of it! :)

Good luck. One day at a time and don't fall far beyond. You'll do great! :)

Hi, I'm a 26 year old mom going back to finish nursing school this fall at CCAC. I plan to work at St. Clair hospital when I graduate. I would really appreciate any advice any of you could give. Thanks everyone!:)
I hope all goes well for you. Will you be going to South Campus? I really like it there. It's grueling at times, but you will learn a lot. One of the best things that I have found to do is to form my own opinions about fellow classmates, faculty, etc. There's always going to be people who do nothing but whine and b)tch about everything. (Oftentimes, solely based on things they have heard rather than experienced. ) Please PM me if you have any other questions.
P.S. If you don't already have one, develop a thick skin!
Good luck in your endevours. If i can do it at 50 so can you. My advice is mouth closed, ears open, do not be a know it all, and tell them when you do not know how to do a procedure. Patient safety first and last!Know your drugs, do your work on time, take each day as it comes.Practice taking books to the bathroom, because that will be the only time you will have a spare minute to read some stuff. Set up a study schedule and stick to it. If you are a clean freak, forget it for two years. Tell friends they can visit if they bring a pot luck dinner and forget the definition of a mop, you will not remember what they look like. Dust is not a foreign object, it will be quite normal.Keep good notes, tape record lectures to replay and sit in the front of the class. That way you pay attention and not watch everyone else. Most of all, tell your hubby you will have a headache most nights haha...had to throw that one in, right gang?
